“We had the most amazing weekend at the grotto. Everything was superb which made our stay so relaxing and fun. Each year we have a girls winter retreat and this year was the best ....the grotto is outstanding.”

“The house was excellent as was the house manager. Rooms were a good size and everyone from 70 down to 2 years old had a fantastic time. Stunning location and easy access to nearby lakes and other tourist spots. The pool, hot tubs and garden area were very well used by most people, especially the children. The area has been plagued with flies this exceptional summer and the Grotto didn't escape - but the kids made a game out of that with an old fashioned fly swat - who could swat the most!!!!! A bit of care needed on the patio area - with the little one as the railings don't cover every inch - but it made everyone interact more anyway to keep an eye on him! The nearby train noise was a bit of a nuisance on the first night, but after that hardly noticeable! The house has an interesting history from conversation with Adam - EG Prime Ministers staying nearby, Wordsworth design of the original garden and some old stones found during building work etc - and it would be an idea to write them down as I'm sure it would add to the pleasure of future guests. Overall a special house and the best we have ever stayed in, would definitely book again for a large family gathering!!”

“Fabulous house and stay at The Grotto. Everything inside was perfect and as expected. The only thing we were disappointed with was the garden and sitting out areas. Having young children with us we would love to have used the swings and we could but were disappointed the field/grass had not been cut, it wasnt usable without wearing walking boots/wellies. We were hoping to kick a football about on the grass etc but it was thick and quite long. The chairs for sitting out still had cobwebs on them and not cleaned up from the previous year/summer. It could have done with a good jetwash. It was a lovely warm sunny weekend and probably the first one of the year but we did expect the grass in the field to be cut and the field usable. We were restricted to the patio areas which felt a bit abandoned and uncared for . The furniture available in the outhouse/garage needed cleaning before we could use them. There were weeds in flower beds/pots and all the hanging baskets. The outside area does need some tlc to match the inside of the house. The only other thing we all felt was missing and is obviously an extra was a snooker/pool table. Possibly replacing one of the dining tables as 2 not necessary or downstairs in the laundry/office area ? Just an idea We very much appreciated the wine and food basket and other goodies left for us that was a lovely touch. Also thank you for making so much effort to make sure the bedding situation was sorted. Adam who showed us around was super nice and very helpful. There was ample parking. The house was super and clean inside. Although we have criticised the outside somewhat I cannot over emphasise what a fab house this is and it was perfect for us Many thanks for a super stay we had a fabulous family weekend and would love to return.”

“Stayed for a long weekend 13/4/18. What a place, pictures don’t do it justice. The house was immaculate on arrival with everything there to cater for the 12 of us that stayed. Location is excellent with links to all major roads in minutes. Could not fault it one bit.”

“The pictures of The Grotto looked amazing, just what I was looking for. When we arrived we were blown away by the house, the pictures do not do it justice! It was just perfect in every way, and the standard of finish and fixtures were top class. In terms of cleanliness and organisation, again very good. We had a great weekend and made some great memories.”
