My son and I like to play pickleball. This JOOLA Radius Pro Pickleball Paddle is impressive. It plays fast but offers a lot of control. It has a larger sweet spot - my son prefers this paddle over others we have. Excellent paddle.

The radius is a good paddle for someone who likes to play fast. Speedy reaction at the net and not a lot of backhand stroke variation. The lighter weight (7.6 oz) means it is easier to switch between stroke and faster recovery. The medium length handle means you are not going to switch stoke styles, two handed backhand, holding different parts of the handle for power or control. It is all about fast hands. The more rounded shape means a larger sweet spot again contributing to the fast hands quick hits style of play. How to pick a paddle:Pickleball paddles have a lot of different variations. Which ones should you pick and why? You should consider these factors in this order:Weight - go with a medium weight paddle to start. Something no heavier than a 7.9 oz paddle. As you figure out your play style, a heavier paddle, 8.1 or more, will give you more power where as a lighter paddle will give you more contorl.Handle length - if you like to hold the paddle differently during different strokes, try a longer handle paddle. Borrow one on the courts to try it out and see if that gives you more ways to play. If you always hold the paddle in the same spot, than a shorter or standard length handle will give you a better paddle shape:The specifications for Pickleball paddle is that the length and the width of the paddle together must be not more than 24 inches. So a shorter handle will let you have a wider paddle, which means more hit area and a better sweetspot. The thickness of the handle matters a bit, but remember you can always add over-wrap tape to make it thicker as needed.

My main paddles for pickleball are an Electrum Model E and Joola Hyperion. This adds a third to my collection. Like the Hyperion, this has a wide handle. Good if you have large hands. It will require tape because the initial fabric becomes slippery when wet with sweat. As for the face, this paddle is bigger and the sweet spot is also bigger. For this reason, I have much more control of the ball. Better for fast volleys at the net. Better for defensive moves. While it doesn't seem to generate the power of the Electrum and Hyperion, sometimes you want control. Get it. Get this paddle.

We have two pickleball fanatics in our family – a father and son team – who play nearly every morning during the warm weather months. I had them test out two Joola pickleball paddles – the son chose this one.Until now, both were using a pair of paddles bought from a big box store that cost $60 for the pair. The son’s playing technique to date has been to hit the ball as hard as he can with his cheaper paddle. When he switched to this paddle, he was initially frustrated. The sound the ball made upon impact with the paddle seemed “weird” which threw him off, and the ball’s reaction was less predictable: it wasn’t just getting slammed back to the other side. But then the a-ha moment when he backed off from his hit-it-hard strategy. In his words: “Wow. This paddle really gives you control over the ball. Now I’m strategically placing that ball into the opposite court with spin and finesse that my other paddle just cannot deliver.” There is no chance we’re getting this paddle back from him for anyone else to try! (See photo – he wouldn’t even let go of it for me to photograph!)I had a couple final questions: Star rating? “Five.” Worth $180? “Oh heck yeah.” He LOVES this paddle. It has really upped his game.

My family is loving this pickleball paddle! We are beginners, so I’m no expert, but I feel like this paddle does a great job controlling and hitting the ball accurately. Feels great in the hand, & it’s lightweight. It’s called the “sweet spot paddle” and I think it lives up to its name!

Been playing consistently for a year and a strong 3.5-3.75 player. Started with Phoenix Pro Series, then onto Gamma Shard (really loved the grip on this one) and didn't think a paddle would make much difference. Was I wrong. I test drove the Joola Radius for 5 mins one day and knew it was the paddle for me.Hitting the ball feels solid with a large sweet spot. I tend to be more of a finesse/control player but can wind up for power when needed/wanted. This paddle can do it all for me.I do wish it had the grip from my Gamma Shard though.Update: the power is lacking after I tried other paddles. Just got a 6.0 dbl black diamond. Holy smoke didn't think I'd be ditching my radius. Still a very solid paddle tho
