JOOLA Pickleball Schläger Solaire CFS 14 Reviews

4.3 Rating 59 Reviews
I’ve been using this Joola premium pickleball paddle for a couple of weeks now, and I have been very pleased with it. It’s well-designed, well-made, and I feel that it definitely ups my game a bit. I like it a lot. It’s a terrific pickleball paddle. Which, of course, it should be/better be given its eyebrow-raising price tag.And with that now said, I think what makes this paddle noticeably better than any other paddle I’ve tried is all of the new built-in technology. Technology like the honeycomb polymer core and the carbon friction paddle surface. You can quickly tell that this is not your average pickleball paddle. And when you get used to using this paddle, you will definitely notice that it gives you improved control and power. Which is just another way to say that this paddle will take your game to the next level. If you have any questions about this Joola Solaire pickleball paddle, please feel free to ask, and I'll try my best to answer. I hope you found this review helpful.

These pickleball paddles are the best I've ever had. They are super light and fit great in the hand. They seem to be made with great quality, and have a great design as well. Highly recommend it!!

This paddle although had a wider face, it doesn’t feel as forgiving as other skinner shapes. It has a good spin and good touch, however, I have to hit harder for my shots. But it may just be I need to get used to it. I like the spin on it as it creates spin effortlessly. I came from using a lot of different paddles which said they all had a great spin. I think Joola’s line of paddles all have a very good spin.

This is a balanced paddle from Joola which contains two of the new Hyperion CFS paddle features--a carbon fiber handle under the wrap for additional flex and thus power and hyperfoam edge wall for vibration reduction and a better sweet spot. The paddle is 14mm, a thinner paddle than the Hyperion and a number of other classic power paddles. Nevertheless, though the paddle's carbon tech gives somewhat of a springy feel, this is still a powerful paddle The 2mm thickness this loses from the Hyperion, leads to a hard-edged feel on hitting the ball. The Solaire's carbon surface has enough friction to impart spin, but it's not tremendously sticky. Overall this paddle seems to combine a bit of spin with a bit of power, making a nice all-round paddle with a great thwack when hitting the ball.

I'm a 3.75 player. I've been using a Selkirk Omni but was happy to try something new. This thing is NICE! I'm used to a shorter grip and thought that would be an issue, but the nice sweet spot makes up for the smaller paddle face. The grip is fantastic although being white, it gets dirty fast. I'll put an over grip on soon. The package says it weighs 8.4 ounces but I weighed it and it's really 8.65 ounces or 245 grams. My Selkirk is 8.35 ounces. Not much difference but after one game my elbow could tell. The problem was that I was swinging as hard as I did with the old paddle. Not necessary with this paddle. It has fantastic power and dinks have great feel. The best part, for me, is that surface. It's so grippy! My top spin drive serve just dives over the net. Top spin lobs are crazy too. I sure hope the texture doesn't wear off. It is truly amazing. The build quality is very good. I'm switching to Joola!

This is a great all-around paddle. Power and spin are dead on. Large sweet spot given by the head, while the same time allowing you ample spin control. I personally like the smooth grip, but some people may prefer the textured grip instead. Personal preference. All around though, great paddle and it will take your game to the next level. Recommend.

12/19 UPDATE: It has been 6 months playing with both the Solaire and Hyperion. Hyperion was my go to up until a month ago when it felt like the handle had a bit of "wiggle" in it. My first thought was the handle was broken, so I went back to using the Solaire. After playing with the Solaire over the last month, it too has developed an even worse wiggle. The amount of wiggle/give in the handle compared to my Engage paddles is quite noticable and cause for concern that these $200+ paddles do not last longer than 6months. I take good great care of my equipment, store in padded cases, tape the edge guard, and do NOT hit/scrape the ground when playing. I play 3-4 days/week 2-3hrs at a time. As I mention in my review below, I loved both the Solaire and Hyperion while playing, but cannot recommend a $200 paddle that cannot stand the test of time to normal play. I will be reaching out to Joola to see if if they have a warranty program and will update my review after that. Until then, my updated conclusion is to avoid these paddles if you are looking for a high dollar professional paddle that will withstand normal play.First off, I was a bit skeptical going from a a 16mm 7.4oz Engage to this 14mm 8.4oz. There is definitely a noticeable difference in the weight, but more importantly in the control and power of the ball. Within the first game, I was able to take away half my physical power, but still obtain the same power and control as my Engage. Drive serves and spin are incredible with this paddle, and don't even et me started on the 3rd shot drops, immaculate! In addition, going from an elongated paddle to this wider face, had me a bit worried, but there was a considerable difference in the amount of control when miss hitting. Every ball was a winner tonight and cannot speak more highly of this paddle. You will see immediate improvements once you find your swing and rhythm!

The paddle is solid with a large sweet spot Hits with good power and yet works well with dinks and resets. My only complaint is the ribbed grip, as opposed to a grooved grip I had the same problem with the Ben Johns CFS16 and sold it because of it. I will have to change it out to get a smoother handle with an overgrip. . . . I had been using an elongated Gearbox 14 and added weight and overgrips to it. It weighed 8.7 ounces, but feels lighter than this paddle at 8.4 ounces. But I ike that and it makes it feel like you are driving the ball with more power. So it's a good paddle but I will change the grip to a thin, non-ribbed grip and add an overgrip and it should be perfect.
