JOOLA Pickleball Schläger Ben Johns Hyperion CFS 14 Swift Reviews

4.9 Rating 26 Reviews
I've used this paddle for about two weeks now. I've been playing pickleball for about a year-and-a-half, and I'm just starting to get into tournament play. I used a beginner paddle for a long time, and then upgraded to an intermediate paddle. Finally I decided to go all in and get this Joola Hyperion. I was a little concerned because the paddle face is a shade smaller than my previous paddle, but I have adapted to it quite well. The handle is longer than my previous paddle as well. When I first started using it, I had to adapt my swing just a hair to get used to the longer handle, but after one afternoon it felt totally natural. The face of the paddle has a *very* slight texture to it, and my serves are coming in with a little more spin on them. This paddle is definitely worth it, and I feel it has done a lot for my game. And, finally, I really like the aesthetics of it: Black face with a white handle, and just a touch of lime green.

This Ben Johns Joola racket is my new favorite. Feels so well balanced and lightweight in my hand. Also like the cool design on the paddle! I love it and would recommend to all.

Just love this paddle! I have increased the level of my game... starting with lower cost paddles, never thinking it made a difference. Well, considering I played tennis most of my life and know the benefits of techniques for spin, head acceleration, sweet spot zone, etc. Well, this paddle has increased my overall speed of shot, cause the sweet spit is bigger, so I can swing with more confidence. Spin is easier to generate without over hitting.I am not suggesting everyone will benefit from a more expensive paddle, as many of my friends, see no difference, as they are not connected to their paddle.... of course, when I played tennis, I was completely connected to my racquet as well, every aspect, string type, string pattern, racquet type, etc. so YMMV. My 5 star review is best on my experience using the paddle and the build quality....

I was skeptical about a paddle this expensive. It generally plays the same as my other paddles but it definitely has a bit more bounce. The most notable difference is the grip and texture this paddle has. I haven't mastered it yet but this paddle will make a big difference with the ability to apply spin. The surface almost feels like a chalk board if you can imagine that. I also really love the slightly smaller 14mm face used here. If you don't mind the spend here, this is an easy recommendation. It is a difference maker.

I've been using many other low end paddles thinking they're all the same. Boy was I wrong, this immediately improved everything within my game. It's so lightweight It's almost as though you're not holding a paddle. I can't stress enough how much better this is than any other paddle I've ever owned.

The paddle is light weight and has a nice grip. There are no dead spots on the paddle and the surface allows you to put a lot of spin on the ball. I never expected a paddle to greatly improve my game but this one did! Highly recommended.

This paddle is awesome! It's great quality, good grip, I like the traction for spin and a nice amount of power. People were already asking to try it out on day one.

Joola is doing some amazing things with these paddles and the new Swift lineup is an exciting next step. I’ve owned both this paddle and the Solaire 14mm Swift and they both perform great. For me I much prefer this paddle as I’ve started to develop a more aggressive game and attack the ball more. The Swift models are made to be lighter and they definitely are. My wife has the Hyperion CAS 13.5mm and it’s much heavier than this one, and while she does prefer the weight, I much prefer the lighter feel of the Swift models. If you’re curious about this compared to the 16mm, unfortunately I’ve not tried that thickness yet but online it seems these 14mm are a more balanced option of power and control where the 16mm are more focused on control (but still have plenty of power).Overall I love this paddle. Ended up sending the Solaire 14mm Swift back because this shape worked better for me but would give that one 5 stars as well. Lots of power, tons of spin, light and fast. Built for a more advanced player.Note: You may hear a slight rattle in the paddle if you shake it in a quiet room. I heard this on both of my Swift models, but it shouldn’t effect performance and it’s likely due to loose glue from the Hyperfoam or edge guard.
