JOOLA Pickleball Schläger Ben Johns Hyperion CFS 14 Swift Reviews

4.9 Rating 26 Reviews

I love this paddle after switching over from another top selling brand. I’ve been using this paddle for about 8 months and just ordered another in 14MM.

I own almost all models from JOOLA now, but I always prefer the paddles on the lighter side, around 7.6 oz. So I was really excited when JOOLA announced this new technology called SWIFT which was developed to provide lighter versions of some of JOOLA’s most popular paddles. With a half-ounce lighter, I can now enjoy playing with my favorite models from JOOLA, like this one. As JOOLA has been my all-time favorite brand, I literally have nothing else to add that hasn't already been said in my previous reviews, to be honest. In short, I love the SWIFT version because I prefer paddles that weigh around 7.6 oz. But if you prefer a bit more weight on your paddle, like my father and grandpa, go with the regular one for more power!

This review compares the Ben Johns Hyperion CFS 16 Swift to the Ben Johns Hyperion CFS 14 Swift, as the two are nearly identical but have three key differences: paddle thickness, weight, and grip circumference. The Joola Ben Johns Hyperion CFS 16 Swift and the Joola Ben Johns Hyperion CFS 14 Swift are both high-end pickleball paddles designed in collaboration with professional pickleball player Ben Johns. While both paddles share similar design elements, there are some notable differences to consider. One of the key differences between the two paddles is the thickness of the paddle face. The CFS 16 Swift features a 16mm thick paddle face, while the CFS 14 Swift has a slightly thinner 14mm face. The thicker face on the CFS 16 Swift results in a slightly heavier paddle, at 7.9 ounces, while the thinner face on the CFS 14 Swift equates to a lighter paddle at 7.7 ounces. The weight difference can affect the overall feel and maneuverability of the paddle, and boils down to a matter of personal preference. The last physical difference between the two is the grip circumference, with the CFS 16 Swift at 4.25” and the CFS 14 Swift at 4.125”. This is a difference of 1/8 of an inch, but that difference can be huge during play. Again, it all comes down to a matter of personal preference & how you like the paddle to feel in your hand. Both paddles feature Joola's Carbon Friction Surface, which utilizes their Carbon Flex5 textured surface, and maximizes power & spin. They both feature a carbon-forged handle to provide enhanced power and comfort. Additionally, both paddles utilize Joola's Hyper-Foam Edge Wall, to provide a larger sweet spot and reduced vibration.Overall, both the Joola Ben Johns Hyperion CFS 16 Swift and the Joola Ben Johns Hyperion CFS 14 Swift are high-quality pickleball paddles designed for advanced players who demand top-level performance. The choice between the two ultimately depends on personal preference and playing style, with the CFS 16 Swift offering a heavier, thicker paddle head & larger grip, and the CFS 14 Swift offering a lighter, thinner paddle head and smaller grip.
