JOOLA Pickleball Schläger Ben Johns Hyperion C2 CFS 14 Reviews

4.8 Rating 56 Reviews
Before ordering this brand new model, I looked at a couple of professional reviews that were effusive, and I must say they were right. The premium construction and materials offer an exceptional balance of power, control and spin, though at this price point that probably shouldn't come as much surprise. The handle is comfortable and stable, with tacky wrapping that has subtle ridges to enhance grip. The paddle weighs in at 8 ounces, which I feel is a good compromise between power and speed. The core has nice pop and shock absorption, with good control at the net. The carbon friction surface face offers excellent spin, though I would have preferred less wording and graphics since the paint can be felt with your finger. But that doesn't seem to affect performance so this is just a minor nit, as is not including a protective neoprene cover. This paddle may be overkill for a beginner, but its versatility and consistency would be noticeable and appreciated by intermediate and advance players, as well as most discerning pros.

I was super excited to try out the latest pickleball paddle from Joola, one of the top paddle companies. Boasting all the latest technology improvements like its carbon-charged surface, this lightweight paddle delivers power and spin and the aero-curve seems to whip through the air. I got the 16mm model which is very stable and has a large sweet spot thanks to the foam filled edge guard. I've played with over a dozen different paddles and this one has a special feel to it - like it wants me to play up to its capabilities. Though the price is high, it's reasonable for a pro level paddle.

Joola makes great paddles. My husband and I have made the transition from tennis to pickleball (Male USTA 5.5, Female USTA 4.0). You really can’t go wrong with any Joola paddle, it’s just finding the one that gives your game the edge. The differences are relatively minor once you hit the high end.We have been favoring the Joola Scorpeus models - Anna Bright 14mm and Collin Johns 16mm - but recently ordered the Simone Jardim Hyperion C2 16mm and the Ben Johns Hyperion C2 16mm to compare. The handle on the Simone Jardim is slightly longer than the Anna Bright, the frame a tiny bit more elongated. What I notice immediately is a firm and weighted head. It translates into mega power from the backcourt. I find it’s good for quick-reflex and flick shots, and highly suited for singles play. The paddle still handles finesse shots, but finding power and the sweet spot come very naturally. My results are slightly different from the Joola charts for power/control comparisons, also a 16mm vs. 14mm.The Ben Johns Hyperion C2 16mm gives a high level of all-around play with power and control. I find it very similar in performance to the Anna Bright 14mm and have it right up there as a favorite for doubles or singles. My husband (USTA 5.5) tried it out too. His current paddle is the Collin Johns Scorpeus 16mm. He feels the Collin and Ben paddles are quite similar however he still favors his Collin Johns. He likes how the Collin paddle produces soft contact, with the ball staying on the paddle face a bit longer, that sense of control. Conclusion: If you have an arsenal of shots and are looking to hone in on power or performance any of these high-end Joolas will deliver. If you are still working into a comfort zone the Joola Seneca is one solid option at a lower price point. As my husband likes to say, “If you’re having problems with these paddles, it’s you not the paddle.”

I've been playing Pickleball for about two years now and I've had the chance to try many paddles from many brands, my favorite being my twice-purchased 1st gen 16mm Ben Johns Hyperion CFS, which would be the predecessor to this one.I tried multiple other paddle brands, thicknesses and surfaces after the CFS and kept going back to the 16mm CFS as it provided me with the control and spin i was accustomed to, people kept insisting that i moved to other brands and nothing felt right for me, it was either too powerful/snappy, too hollow but i lost control of what i intended to be.I don't know if its real or placebo, but this one being the successor to my favorite paddle i had great expectations and the biggest improvement i found was on sweet spot size, i feel that i can hit the ball pretty much anywhere and have that solid feedback that was also great on the CFS but feels somewhat more solid. It may be just from a new, barely used grit, but i also feel that the spin has been improved significantly. The paddle also dampens the shock from the hits better and it may be due to the new carbon frame that if i am not mistaken, absorbs shock better. The grip is as good as the old CFS and its what i am used to so i love it.Having said all that, this is my favorite paddle ever, its on a different level, but: $250.I mean i understand that innovation and research costs a lot of money, but there is no way there is a quarter of a thousand American Dollars in manufacturing here, i understand profits and logistics, but with so much competition the marginal gains are hard to justify at this price point, i understand also diminishing returns in performance per dollar but i still think the price is pretty steep, maybe $199 would have been a 5-star for me.Overall a nice improvement over its predecessor, but at a steep price, i'll still recommend it for its performance, and while it's not a value item i think it may be a little too far.

I've previously been using a fairly inexpensive paddle, and after using this Joola C2, it's clearly superior. It feels lightweight while able to generate great power and control. The paddle also seems to make it easier to apply a spin. The color and visual designs are also very minimal, so it's pleasing to the eye and not a distraction.

Can't really add much to the what the other reviewers are saying. This is one of the top paddles on the market. It's expensive, but if you're an advanced player, you should look into this. Great combination of control, spin, and power. Paddle feels very solid and the sound is satisfying. I'd get this again.

In life, you really do get what you pay for. This paddle holds up in the top tier of "Pro" paddles. It's not my favorite, though, but I've only spent two open sessions with it. It has a great pop for a 16mm paddle and good control, but I like a little more grip for spin. It's the clear number 2 in my bag right now. Time will tell if it takes over the number 1 spot.

This paddle is super nice. The handle is slightly larger than my other official sized paddles. It is lighter than my other paddles by Just a little. The paddle can give excellent spin control. It looks good. It feels good in the hand. And it hits good. I don't know what more can be asked of a paddle. If Customers don't mind the price, this is a GREAT pickleball paddle to get.
