“Useful course especially for teachers totally new to ESL. For me, as someone who did study education at university, it helped me to review my knowledge and reminded some basic rules of planning lessons, gave tips for classroom games etc.”
“The TEFL 120-hr course covers all the aspects of being a good teacher. From teaching methodologies, classroom management, teacher-student relationship, to teaching materials etc, we can find through this course everything needed to become a good and confident teacher with practice.”
“This course was great for me as I was volunteering at a university in Thailand with my only advantage being my ability to speak the English language. Through ITTT I was able to relearn many of the grammar rules and concepts I have since forgotten. I would recommend this course for anyone seeking to teach English overseas or stateside.”
“I found the course very helpful as a general overview in teaching techniques and grammar. I was immediately able to utilize the recommended structure for class. As new teacher with not curriculum provided by my organization, I had hoped to have a better idea of where to begin and how to proceed, but that was not within the scope of the course. I would however, recommend this course as a good source of teaching tips and grammar review overall.”
“Overall, I think the course was very good at introducing me to the TEFL world. It went over the most important aspects of class management as well as of grammar, also giving me valuable resources for my teaching career.
I only had a couple of issues with the course. I already wrote to the support team about the first one (an issue about how the server somehow copied my unit 1 test answers onto my unit 2 test and which ended up in my accidental failure of the unit 2).
Now, in regards to the second issue, it was about some information on unit 8, pg. 7, which stated that one the usages of the 'going to' future was for "predictions based on present evidence", giving as an example the sentence "I THINK it's going to rain later!", which clearly implies that the speaker 'thinks so' based on some evidence. The problem is that on the exam for that unit, on question 7, the sentence was "I THINK it will snow tomorrow", which is in future simple, of which one usage is -according to unit 8, pg. 2- for "predictions based on NO PRESENT EVIDENCE, as oppossed to 'be going to'"; as you see, in the test's sentence the speaker "thinks so" about snowing because of an implied evidence, which is contrary to one of the the future simple usages as stated in the unit. Even though I saw the mistake, I limited myself to answer the question in such a way so as not to lose points. I think, however, that besides it being the wrong information (the test's), it is not in congruency with the unit's information, which is obviously misleading and confusing. On a separate email for the Support Team I am attaching as evidence some relevant screenshots of both the test and the unit regarding this issue.
I think it could be beneficial for the school to review the server's testing system, as well as the course units and tests regarding the aforementioned issues.”
Thank you for your detailed review, Carlos. Our team is currently reviewing the issues you mentioned to correct them. We wish you all the best for your teaching career.
“I'm really happy that I finished everything I had to do and, got the certificate. Since I passed it, I have been looking forward to the opportunities which I could teach English in some countries that I would like to visit. I'd love to help people who want to learn English with joy. Thank you very much,”
“First of all before I write my review I would like to mention that I have my bachelor’s degree in linguistics and have already been working as a teacher for many years but came across with the need of being certified when started looking for a new job at English Language schools that required teacher with TEFL/TESOL certification. The units in this course were not new information for me but it was good to brush up on some grammar and organize in my head things that I knew already. I liked that this course gives you detailed and structured training on how to be effective and great teacher in general. People who would like to start teaching career or have interest in teaching will definitely benefit from this course. For myself I am glad that finally after many years I have this certificate that will hopefully will make English teaching job easier. Thank you!”
