This new range of DVRs from Hikvision replace the HWI-SH analogue only range, at a similar price point. They have one huge benefit however over the predecessor, which is the support of HD-TVI cameras (or Turbo Analogue cameras Hikvision call it) meaning up to 1080p camera quality and recordings, a huge improvement over traditional CCTV. The beauty is you can use this DVR with existing analogue cameras and gradually upgrade to Turbo cameras one at a time if necessary, with no configuration needed and at a price point analogue CCTV was at, just a few years ago. “Small, compact and powerful device. Operating system is pretty standard but easy enough to use. Set up was straightforward using the mouse and the tv, where we struggled was trying to get the device to be seen by our wifi router. It wasn't really explained that you had to pic a IP address relative to your router, the default IP address was not recognised. Once we found that out via an online forum, we were able to access the device via our computer and phones. Playback is easy to work out. Overall we are very happy, the fact that its a hybrid device suited us as we can now upgrade our cameras to HD as and when we want.”
