“Dissapointed, many bugs on this box.
Major problem is keeps freezing and will not start up from standby, have to unplug to get it to start up again.
Also two other of the more minor bugs are randomly does not mark in guide when recordings are set.
Fast forward of recorded programs is very poor and almost unusable, the old fox t2 box was much slicker.
The aura app as advertised in much of their speal is not even available yet and I only bought the box because of this advertised function”
“It's good... finally. Much better than those rather awful fvp4/5000 machines. It still has a few bugs like playing music files from usb. It also needs to be able to adjust the skip time setting
when watching recordings. Like forward 2mins/back 15 secs for commercial breaks. At the
moment it's rigidly the same forward and back e.g 30seconds both ways. This is needlessly coarse and causes a lot of wear on the remote buttons. Perhaps when Humax make a firmware update. 4 out of 5 Humax, well done. Other opinions may differ of coarse.”
“It's handy having Android TV and a Freeview PVR combined. But I don't know if it's early bugs or an actual issue but quite often it takes a few goes to get it to switch on from standby. Often it will trigger the TV to switch on but then either the unit itself won't broadcast any picture/sound or sometimes it will just switch itself back off. So would struggle to recommend on my experience so far.
Really hope it's just an early bug as when it works it's a really good box.”
“The Humax Aura 4K Android TV - 2TB Recorder does all it says on the box and does it very well. It would be better if it had the easy to follow FVP 4000t/5000t recorder style menu pages.
The Humax Aura 4K Android TV - 2TB Recordert is efficient at what it does but the absence of the, much vaunted, App makes it feel like a work in progress and any information about downloading recordings without the App are noticeable by their absence in the menu. Despite this major drawback it still warrant 4 stars and if and when the App appears an extra star can be added.”
“lovely piece of kit, great to use and high quality recordings. its only negative point is that when its in standby you can hear constant disk spinning, albeit quiet low level.”
“The Aura is a bit of a mixed bag at the moment, but I am hopeful that it will improve with updates. As a Freeview PVR it has a fast, responsive, good looking interface, and is far ahead of any previous PVR I have used. As a media hub it is currently lacking in many of its advertised features.
Output resolution and framerate can be set by the user, but there is no 'native' option meaning that if your content doesn't match what you have set, it is upscaled or downscaled and set to the wrong framerate. It also currently cannot pass high resolution audio (Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD MA, DTS:X, Atmos) over HDMI to an AVR which is one of its many advertised features, so all of your audio is sent in low resolution. Finally, a month after purchase and the app to set and view recordings remotely (another advertised feature) has not yet been released.
If Humax can address the audio and video output settings, and we get a working Aura app, I would happily give the Aura a full five stars.”
“Very easy to setup and use. Contrary to some reviews IPlayer does work. Quiet. Remote of our still functioning Humax works with this which is good and bad as sometimes you can set things on one and not realise you're changing something on the other. Await the Humx Aura app which was a reason for buying but not out yet. Really good box, hope it lasts as long as the very old model.”
