“Pretty useless it seems. Looks to be one of those things that is released before it was ready. The precept is great an all round entertainment centre. Worked OK for about two weeks. Now after being switched on for about 4 hours, (happened after 2 hours today, after initially not wanting to start an app and a hard reboot)it freezes and shuts down. Then you have to go through all the pretty patterns as android starts up again. This is my fourth Humax box and although on paper it is the best. It is in fact the most expensive and the worst. Would I recement it? NO.”
“I purchased this recorder to replace an EE TV box. The recorder can record 4 programs simultaneously and has lots of good features.
Unfortunately the recorder is not as good as I had expected. I had read some reviews that indicated problems but I still went ahead with the purchase. On the plus side the unit looks good, is easy to connect and when not showing the problems it has, it works well.
The recorder has several software glitches which hopefully will be fixed and updates released. The main issue seems to be that the recorder looses the TV signal when it is processing it. This shows as a pixellated picture or a message on the screen saying the signal was lost.
I have run a parallel test with a second TV that does not go via the recorder and it does not pixalate when the signal via the recorder does. When viewing recorded programs the loss of signal also causes what is indicated as a failed recording but so far even when the recording is supposed to have failed there is no evidence of failure when the recording is viewed.
Another glitch is when pausing a live TV program that is also being recorded. If the fast forward button is used to catch up to the present time, when the program reaches the present time it switches of and reverts to a program that was being shown earlier.
Overall the recorder is acceptable but like most new electronics it exhibits software issues that are a nuisance to some customers.”
“The remote controller is interfering with other set top, like my BT TV box. I would NOT buy this item again until they change the frequency of the remote controller.”
“Brilliant interface and features.
Sadly like every other Humax device I have ever had, it occasionally locks up and has to be turned off and on at the mains.”
“A lovely little box to use my with TV aerial after my very good experience with my Humax 1010S satellite box
Biggest niggle is with the volume control when paired with my new Samsung TV. It is a very coarse adjustment which move in large chunks. Why no NETFLIX app???
Apart from those items a superb piece of kit which is now feeding my Samsung Q80T with beautiful pictures and sound from my Samsung HW S60T sound bar. Well done Humax for bringing this to market!”
“After seeing mixed reviews I was a little concerned when I bought the Humax Aura but, in honesty, I haven't been disappointed. Record 4 channels concurrently and 2TB storage what more could you want. 2 years guarantee helps too but hopefully I won't need it.”
“Quite a lot to read for finer settings detail eventually found the registration code generator under Record & Share of the Settings menu. Picture quality utilises TV's max output for 4k very good The only thing I need improving is the volume control sensitvity which at present is to coarse making it difficult for fine adjustment, I have to use my soundbar control for this my original Youview Humax recorder was OK. Perhaps this can be done with a software update. There are a lot of options for accessing your needs for programmes still exploring these. The picture after pausing Live TV sometimes goes blocky also during playback of a recording.
Overall a good piece of kit maybe you do not need a Smart TV as it can do most things.
All we need now is the Aura app for the my Anroid mobile when will this be released?”
“Good almost all in one box but is missing Netflix and Apple TV Plus, you also can not cast Netflix to it from your phone.
If these services were added it would be a great box”
