Grossly overrated. No app - promised in December. No NOW TV, No Netflix. Amazon Video app works better and faster on my 4yr old Samsung TV. Plus points - able to record 4 channels simultaneously and good picture quality. If you're happy with your current PVR there is no real need to change. Android TV so what? At the least try before buying, it really is overrated.

I have had a Humax Freesat box for a number of years and decided to change to the Humax Aura Freeview Plus as it can record four programmes at a time. I am very pleased with the Aura. Now I've got used to it, I find it easier to use than the Freesat box. I can only find one fault with the Aura: All pictures of Freeview Plus show the Netflix App, but for some reason Netflix is not suitable for the Aura.

On paper, it's a brilliant device but in use, too many bugs in the software and the device was released too early before all issues got ironed out. Very important apps were also missing, like Netflix. The companion app was also not ready at launch (Aura App), which was the main reason I bought it. Never really care about the Android TV side of the device, as I already have a way better functioning hardware with all be bells and whistles when I comes to Android TV. What I really cared about (Freeview Channels and Recordings) was being able to access my Freeview Recordings on the go. You see, I've got the Humax YouView Retailer edition which still does the job brilliantly but not being able to access my Recordings on my portable devices is the YouView's drawback. I've got a lot recorded programmes that I've not been able watch because I need to be at home in order to view them. But with the Aura App, I'll be able to achieve this with the new Humax Aura 4K and yet, the app is no where to be found. I would have preferred you guys had all these sorted out before getting Humax Aura 4K device onto the market. Will have to wait to see if the bugs get resolved before recommending the hardware to someone I know.

The box is absolutely fantastic product very easy to recommend. However there are a few things that are missing or don't work quite right. The remote control is very responsive and has all the necessary functions that you would expect. However whilst you can programme it to turn the TV on and off you cannot control the TV volume. However you can control the Humax box volume but it's not very granular and therefore one small push makes the volume either too loud or too quiet. There are shortcuts on the remote control for prime video and kids and also quick access to the guide and any apps you may have installed on the device. Would be really nice if manufacturers went back to either lit remote controls or remote controls where the buttons are visible in low light conditions but this is quite standard nowadays across the industry. Android TV apps you would expect to find. In my opinion this is quite an essential feature, not available. The match mentioned aura app is not currently available I'm sure it will be amazing when it is is so I can't review its functionality at this time. The box is compact with a single light which changes colour according to status.
