Very happy with my choice of model. Very simple to set up and straight forward to use. My only negative is that on several occasions I have switched on and had no sound! After going through the set up again and after nearly 30 mins, I pulled out the HDMI lead and re-inserted it and the sound was back. However this has happened 4 times now!

Excellent product. Easy set up straight out of the box. HD picture quality good. Recording schedules easy to set up and maintain.Catch up likewise. Remote control intuitive to use. Netflix compatible. Highly recommended.

Rubbish. Very slow. Jutters on all menu options. Can't set up TV controls from its remote. Doesn't turn the TV on or change the input source when turned on. Don't know what all the hype is about Humax products being good. I wouldn't buy another.

It's only possibly to buy from Humax Direct but they badly messes up delivery by not sending the promised email telling me when it was going to be delivered (the email eventually came, about 8 hours after delivery was made). I complained but was fobbed off with a useless response. The TV Recorder does work but is painfully slow in its user interface: just switching on from standby takes about 20 seconds; many operations are 10 times slower than on my previous 10-year old disc video-recorder: electronics has moved on but this is presumably handicapped by awful software. Many buttons on the remote don't work well. E.g. you press the dedicated "Recordings" button and after 5 seconds or so it alarms you by showing 0 hours of recordings; if you wait for some time, it will eventually show a non-zero number of hours. Simple things like moving to a different date in the Programme Guide take far too many button presses. The whole user interface is (a) a shambles, (b) far too slow. You need to rewrite the software from scratch and get it to work faster, then offer existing users a free download. Otherwise I cannot recommend using this device.

Having two other freeview boxes by Humax, I cannot for the life of me understand why they do not look back at past efforts and take the good from them and carry on using them in new products, taking the foxT2 and putting a third tuner in would have been the easier option and resulted in a World beating set top box (my opinion). We had an old tvonics box which was also low voltage and comparing it to this box I feel that going down that route is part of the problem, yes, the software is newer but it displays the usual few seconds of sometimes having to think about what it is asked to do, for example, tiling down the recorded programmes and having to go to the end of the list rather than using the cursor to jump past the first programme and straight to the bottom one. Three tuners are a great idea and very helpful but that is not what it should just be all about. Take some of the satellite companies who have multiple channel recording with smoother interfaces, why not freeview? Freeview play is a good idea but we have unplugged the cable as we tend not to use it. Having said all that, I have waited a good few months to post this and overall, you learn to live with it. it may have been a different review had we not had Humax products in the past which you naturally compare this one to. From what I have read, Humax do not take any notice of the people who buy these products, maybe they should start?

I brought this Humax FVP- 5000t to replace a 2 year old worst ever Goodman's modal and also to turn my old TV into a smart TV. I have had no problems so far with the machine now 1 month old and fantastic to have a 2 year warranty to, has my Goodman's modal decided not to behave it self from around the 13th month 1 month after its warranty expired. I would 100% recommend Humax modal and would certainly buy again. I was considering buying a H3 Espresso but a bit concerned about its reviews so I am going to wait a bit longer for that one.

I'm very pleased with this recorder because of its large capacity and ability to record more programmes simultaneously. I'm still using an older Humax, the HDR-Fox T2, which is fairly full with classic films, alongside the new box, so I have even more choices. It takes a little time to get used to the FVP-5000T but it's worth it. There were a few things, mentioned in other reviews, which I couldn't figure out, so I recommend looking on the internet for Humax user forums, two of which I found and where all sorts of tips are available from people who've been using Humax boxes for years.
