Ordered and delivered on time. I have had humax digital recorders for many years so when I had problems with my older YouView digital recorder I decided to upgrade to this one 5000T it records 4 channels at the same time as watching a 5th with a 2TB hard drive. I am impressed with the specifications but unimpressed with the sluggishness of its operation. Also if you watch a series let’s say 5 episodes the recorder defaults at the last episode 5 so you have to constantly move up to the first recorded episode 1. This is the latest Humax digital recorder but it is much slower and not as easy to use as my previous older humax digital recorders FreeView, YouView, FreeSat boxes. My 5000T updated last night but it’s still sluggish and still defaults to play the latest episode not the first. This digital recorder does what it says on the tin but just not very well.

Excellent picture quality, easy to set up, but programme guide frustratingly slow.

Like all of these recorders it takes a little time to get used to the layout but I have found the picture and sound quality of live tv and recordings to be excellent. I personally don’t see the point of on demand selections and would prefer that button to be a sound mute which is missing. There is a slight delay on some commands which is slightly irritating and too many key strokes to delete a recording compared with the youview box but all in all a nice piece of kit. It was bought to replace a youview box which kept freezing so I hope this box does not develop the same problem.

It's very small and light, doesn't take up much room, has a 2tb capacity, good quality recordings and has really good smart features/apps - so, lots of positives. However, having already owned and enjoyed an earlier model, there are several features with the FVP-5000T that have been tampered with, for the worse: Old v new Humax: - All recordings for series were in easy-to-find alphabetical order on old Humax but on new one they're in a much-harder-to-find chronological order - Easy-to-set timer for new recordings whilst watching an existing one on old Humax, much more complex with new Humax - Some programmes do not record in full (using digital programme guide) on new Humax - never had that problem with old one....I even tried to record the same programme on both machines - in some cases both recorded in full, in others the new Humax failed to record in full - Old Humax on/off coloured indicator was easy-to-see (front of machine) versus stupidly-located one on bottom of new machine - Old Humax past/future recordings were always easy to access to seek programme information, a feature not maintained on new Humax

I have had various Humax PVR products since 2005 and have to say that this latest version is a huge disappointment over my previous FOX T2. I have given it some time in order to get used to the new operating system but after 2 months I still feel disappointed when I use it. Sure it has a 2 gig HD but it is slow to respond and the new operating system is so much less intuitive than my old Fox T2. Coupled with this are the lack video output when you first turn the unit on, the power light is partially hidden and it's guess work as to whether the unit is on or not , thisis a particular problem when I takes around 30 secs to boot up. There are many other issues that are less Important in nature. Overall massive disappointment, Humax have taken a big step backward with this unit.

Ordered on teh web and prompt delivery from Humax Direct. Easy to use and plenty of storage on this 2GB unit. Slightly smaller than earlier models which gives more room around it. My wife and I like Humax. We have had several and this is the best so far. No adverse comments to date.
