“The Humax is easy to set up but we have had problems with it.
If its turned off it takes time to come on and sometimes the picture is distorted, eventually it settles down. We don't have this problem viewing directly through the TV. Next we had issues where we were recording a programme on series record and watching it at the same time, the programme kept pausing and freezing. Other problems are when pausing live TV and watching again the programme suddenly reverts to real time.
We asked Customer support for help and mostly they recommended a system reset which we think is unacceptable for a new piece of equipment.
We are going to persevere with the Humax but if I were buying again I'd think twice”
“This is my second FVP 5000T box 2TB, a great improvement on the 4000 FVP,
The indicating light tells you when it is ON_OFF> or Recording, a great help

“It would have got a very good had it not been for the fact the user interface (UI) is not as good as the HDR fox T2 that we previously had. It’s a shame the UI has regressed In this area. It begs the question why change something that was pretty perfect before that also provided greater flexibility?
On a positive all other functions are excellent on the FVP-5000T.”
“Smart looking appliance but difficult and involved to perform some simple tasks. Seem to be forever going up and down and left and right. Will not always let you record four programmes and watch a fifth as this depends on the group of programmes being watched. Did not realise I could not read my emails on it as I did with my previous Humax box.”
“Purchased my FVP-5000T 2TB recorder recently Quality of picture is excellent. Once I got use to the different control setting found them very useful and informative
However, having trouble with the TV Guide not identifying programme information to select future recordings. Changed my aerial gave even better picture but not resolved my problem. Hoping that Humax will maintain the excellent service I have always had and replace this defective unit”
“Couple of things lacking. When setting recordings have to scroll through to the next day instead of being able to "jump". Same problem with playback. On certain channels with
my other recorder by pressing the double forward buttoñ I could virtually cut out the adverts. Cannot do this. Maybe these functions are available as I'm still "playing around" with the handset. Otherwise very pleased.”
“It is a pity it has no facility for organising what has been recorded. I bought the one with the largest memory in order to keep a lot of material. It gets wearing having to go down a long list instead of being able to look for a particular file (e.g. children’s films) in which I have stored the material. Another problem is that (because of broadcasting breaks) it very often records one film as two separate ones and has no facility for joining them together, and then it is very “clunky” when endeavouring to delete the said double package. It also has a low pitched hum when operating. On the whole I am not overly impressed.”
