“Great update to my old Humax which was failing after 5 years approximately. Can now record 4 programs at once. My wife says it's like having a new tv. Very pleased with it”
“ThIs is my second Humax Recorder and love it.
I always buy from the Humax Website, reconditioned and look like new when they arrive with full warranty and very often cheaper than buying off E-Bay with no warranty, Fast delivery every time.”
“I am trying to be positive. I have previously had several Humax Freesat boxes. Recently my local transmitter power was increased and I can now receive Freeview. i swapped to this because a year ago All4 was removed from Freesat. So I am still used to the HDR 1100S Freesat box, which was excellent.
FVP-5000T Pros - Good picture, good sound and facilities, Freeview Play button a good innovation
FVP-5000T Cons - TV Guide not so clear. Two operations required to operate the 'info' option,
display of recordings is not intuitive.
Worst non-feature is the lack of My5. The App does not work. Despite many emails to My5 and Humax this situation has not been resolved.
The response is 'try it regularly or do a Factory Reset'. Neither of which work and the former sometimes crashes the unit.
I moved from Freesat to Freeview Play because of the loss or All4. I am no better off with the FVP-5000T because although I now have All4 I do not have My5.
As this player was offered in the specification I consider the unit is not as described and am seriously considering returning it for a refund.
This is a shame as otherwise I am sure I would get used to the unit.
Please resolve the My5 situation, do not ignore the problem.
One other point, why is the indicator light underneath, requiring aluminium foil placed under the unit to reflect the light forward so it can be seen?”
“The box itself is good, and just what I thought needed, being able to record more than one channel.
However, a MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR issue that ABSOLUTELY P****S me off is having to go through the rigmarole of having to alternate between turning off the TV and Humax unit multiple times on startup to get rid of a message that appears on screen saying that the programme cannot be viewed by HDMI connection because the TV does not support HDCP.
The TV is less than 5 years old and based on Google searches, I'm definitely not the only one that has this issue. I've already spent money on a new HDMI cable and also a HDMI splitter that would supposedly cure the issue. Nope
It astounds me in this day and age that we can still see incompatibilities between media units.
I contacted Humax who asked me to test the unit on another TV, which I don't have. And even if I did, do they really think I'll replace an £800 TV instead of a box that cost one tenth of the cost?
I'm very tempted to go back to my previous boxes (not Humax) that have all worked perfectly - other than the ability to record multiple channels.
So all in all, if you don't get a stupid error message on your screen every time you turn it on, it does the job it's supposed to.”
