“The product works well and as specified. It is perhaps not as quiet in general running as I would have liked but that would perhaps be a little unfair at the price charged.
My main criticism is over the guidance provided. Maybe most people leave their electronic equipment on standby, but I prefer to turn it off at the mains when I have no intention of using it for several hours or more. Unfortunately the instructions do not mention the process the recorder needs to go through to boot up after it has been switched off completely, nor does it clearly cover the fact that one needs to wait for the audible sound of the hard disc running before anything can be done to get the indicator light to change from red to blue. A paragraph to explain that would have eliminated the frustration of feeling that the recorder was faulty when in fact one just needed to be patient.”
“Good points: the wireless internet connection is excellent and the four tuners mean I never miss a program.
Bad: I miss the skip function and there seems to be a lot more operations needed to do anything.”
“The Humax FVP-500T is a good concept recorder with it's additional channel recording facility and its compact size.
But for some reason it fails alarmingly with a really poor TV guide
it just is so ridiculously poor!! it displays "No information available" quite frequently and more so if you want to set to record a programme days ahead, you can't do it.
And yet, on a "HUMAX YOU VIEW" box the TV Guide has that relevant information, so some real issues with this 'FVP-500T' which clearly need addressing and putting right.
Overall, it is an OK product, and not anything else, I would recommend you to look to buy it as low as you can and not pay a full retail price as it's not perfect by any means.”
