“I bought this as it is great for networking and works well with my computer. I always hear people saying after enabling Samba and everything they can't see it in my computer. It is always worth remembering to tick all the viewable options in the navigation pane and the Humax is there, whereupon you can open up the recordings folder and put a link in quick access. After that deselect the options but you then can gain quick access to recordings even with the unit off!
I have my C: drive shared so I can play movies/music/pictures from my computer on the Humax which is convenient for a multi screen setup and lessens the resources of the computer slightly when I am multitasking.
The Humax itself was a little noisy so I took it apart (it was a reduced cost refurbished model) and replaced that with a NTFS formatted SSD which now means it is silent. It is also worth noting that sometimes the drive shows but you can't record to it and if you try to format it, it shows the message "you have scheduled recordings to start soon" even when you don't. I then select the option "Reset all settings and format HDD" this option seems to work as I have tried it two different SSDs and it worked faultlessly.
The Humax interface is a little long in the tooth but everything seems to work, so in all Humax seem inclined to stick with what works.
Overall probably the best option for Computer/TV use!”

My only quibble is that it is not easy to see when it is on or off, as the indicator light for that is UNDERNEATH the front so you have to go over to it to see!!”
“Having owned a Humax box before i had high expectations of the new box but in reality, it is not as good as I had expected. The original box that i owned was pretty good but the newer model is quite slow in responding to instruction and on too many occasions it does not respond at all to commands. There is an annoying delay in changing channels to the point where i sometimes have to retry before the unit responds. All in all, i am dissapointed with the performance and would not be able to recommend this unit.”
“After working for a week or so without difficulty, the machine started to give all sorts of strange messages on start up. NOT CONNECTED is a regular attendant, and forgive me, I have not written them down but they often refer to network etc. Press another button (GUIDE or ON DEMAND and it starts behaving normally. No, I have not reported the fault to Humax yet.”
“Really pleased with my Humax it easy to use perfect picture and although it was supposed to be slightly used other than the original box not supplied it appears to be as new”
