Freeview Play Recorder FVP-5000T 500GB (Refurbished) Reviews

4.2 Rating 452 Reviews
Looks the same as a new one! Very intuitive to operate, high quality on-screen graphics, compact in size, silent in operation and reasonably priced. Thoughtful features such as retaining your list of favourite channels when re-scanning. Excellent UK helpline who actually understand the product! I hope that it lasts longer than my other temperamental digital equipment!

Excellent service and value for money. I now have 4 Humax recorders, 2 of which are the refurbished models. Wouldn’t have any other!

Works very well but I really miss having the ability to get a bit more advanced information about a forthcoming program. My old Humax YouView had a bespoke Information button.

This box is very good. Freeview Play is good. I have a hard drive connected so can even move my recordings to this drive from the internal one if i want to keep any recordings and free up space on internal drive. Theres also a usb port. All in all its a brilliant good value for money box

This is my 3rd Humax pvr and I cannot understand why you have over complicated the controls. eg Whilst in guide on my old machine pressing the fast forward took me to the next day then the next day. On this one it takes 6 movement for each day forward, so to go 1 week forward it takes 42 pressing of buttons, why? The skipping of 4 minutes forward is very hit and miss. Very dissapointed in all of the controls to many to mention. After saying all have the quality of recording is excellent and I would gave that 5 star. Cliff Tudor

I have had untold numbers of Humax PVCs over the years and still have three in service plus this new one. I've had three different models befor this new one. All are good and I prefer them to other makes that I had before Humax. I have had some that have failed after a few years but never bothered to get them repaired as it never seemed a viable option. I bought this as a refurbished unit and its like new and saved a bit of cash. I could have done with a larger hard drive but this was all they had at the time and I needed a replacement for my old unit which stopped working on HDMI. I have kept it connected using a scart lead so my wife can work her way through the dozens of American detective series she had recorded and wanted to watch. It still works fine for that. This FVP-5000T is similar in use to the machines I already am used to. It has a smaller footprint however and takes up less space. The main effective difference between this machine and the others which is disappointing is the lack of the Live View of the program guide. I think that this feature sets Humax apart from other brands and its really useful to be able to keep watching a program while you surf the guide to see what else is on or worth recording. Why, after such an apparent upgrade, did Humax drop this valuable feature? The catchup apps are a huge upgrade on the old machines and render the machine much more useful, the other machines older models only have a couple like iplayer and YouTube, this new machine has almost everything I need although a sad omission is Prime Video. I could ditch another piece of kit if it was on the machine. Fingers crossed Humax will do a deal with Amazon and complete the set. It should not be impossible to download the app as I did on my TV via the internet. The three tuner setup may be useful but I've never had a problem in the past with only two. Apart from those two niggles, its a good machine and if it lasts, I'll be happy.

Only fault is red and blue light is out of sight I have to put a small piece of white paper for it to reflect on and I have two of these machines.
