“The Freeviewplay recorder FVP5000T500GB .it is a wonderful bit of kit as I like all the films and recording Westerns and watching them at a later time when I want to”
“I decided to buy a refurbished recorder from Humax as I have previously bought a refurbished one from them and it was not only good value but also a reliable product, just as the latest one I purchased.
I would recommend anyone thinking of buying a recorder to consider a refurbished one.”
“The first unit sent was dead on arrival. It took about a week to get a replacement which then arrived without one of the key cables, and no batteries for the remote (which the first faulty unit had and, frustratingly, I sent back in the box as requested). The missing cable was then sent out quickly but overall, not the smoothest of experiences. The item itself is ok - no obvious signs of use. It's fairly slow on channel up and down and moving around the guide but not bad considering the price. The accompanying App is very limited. You have to be on the same wifi network to watch any recorded shows on your phone....and no HD recordings can be watched due to licensing I assume. You can at least set recordings from the App if you are away from home - you just can't watch those recordings.”
“I have had 3 Humax recorders and a friend of mine has had 2. All of them suffer from the same problem: Their tuners Have too low a gain (ie their amplification is too weak). In fairly weak reception areas they will tune lots of stations but then when one attempts to tune into one, a message appears saying the signal is too weak. Yet when the TV is connected directly to the arial, the channel appears as it should.”
