Freeview Play Recorder FVP-5000T 1TB (Refurbished) Reviews

4.2 Rating 334 Reviews
Already own the fabulous HDR FOX T2 (also a refurb unit..5* )...but needed a 'modern' unit to get Internet TV(Racing Uk). Got this and it does the job, yes it has wifi and 3 tuners ....but look at the other reviews...it is not an improvement on the old T2.....just newer......the EPG is clunky and kack handed, admittedly I'm used to the older box, but if I got this "new" (as in not had a PVR before) I would expect it to be "modern", slick....seriously considered returning it but needed it for the R TV...so it sits in the corner, doing its job, but I have to remember to move off the RTV channel, else it won't work when the unit is restarted...and I have to select Guide to change back to any other channel.....UH?....ok it's a refurb....but the software sucks....and it was still 200 notes.......come on HUMAX it's 2019.

Very good. A bit slow between operations but good when you get there!!

Great features and storage but marred by an abysmally slow processor! Would prefer if the operating system was YouView rather than Freeview Play.

I've had the Humax 5000T for about 3 weeks now, I have worked my way through the menu in detail. I find the software/firmware slow and laggy. The remote control has a poor infra red setup, unless you have direct line of sight, the remote will not work properly. Although the FVP 5000 has more features than my old DTR 4000 which came with youview. I prefer the Youview, to the freeview that the 5000 offers. The Youview seems much quicker & more intuitive than the freeview play. The FVP5000 takes an age to switch on, first thing in the morning. With no initial indication that it has even been switched on. Then about 3 minutes later the light goes blue, & you have to press the power button again to switch it on. There is so much more, but that's enough for now. If I could, I would replace this for a more user friendly device.
