Ordered over Xmas so no next day delivery but when arrived was easy to set up and is currently working well one worrying problem was had some programmes recorded to watch switched on and on going to recordings had gone this was reason got new unit to replace previous model had had a few years. Was looking for box arrived in following day and noticed bar come up to say recording programme in a series and on checking recordings page all lost recordings reappeared so will keep an eye to see how it goes been OK last few days

Good points are - it's small, can record at least three programmes at once and has all the catch-up services. Bad points are - very, very noisy hard drive which can be heard over the top of any programmes being watched, user interface is a mess - compared to the Fox-T2 it is nearly unusable. For example, to go from the "guide" page when scheduling programmes to record to checking the schedule takes SIX key presses, Fox-T2 only one. Selecting a programme in a series to watch is not a simple scroll down a list, you have to select a date, and then select to programme. If there a more than a few in the series, it takes for ever. Whoever wrote the software for the FVP-5000 should take a good look at the Fox-T2 a learn from it, while not perfect, is way, way easier to use. And the response to the remote is very slow.

A great little unit. Huge capacity and the On Demand facility a real bonus as well as IPlayer, ITV catchup, Netflix etc.. The remote takes a bit of getting used to. Absence of an ‘information’ button is a pity. Also, don’t seem to be able to delete a series after viewing: need to delete each program individually. Overall, would recommend.

This is my 3rd unit I have bought over the years and HUMAX never fail to deliver on specification and flexibility. They also look good.

Having been an early purchaser of a FOXSAT HDR unit I had become very used to the menu and remote functionality. The new FVP-5000T has a number of differences in the menu and the remote, but these are soon mastered and I have to say that i like the ease of setting up recordings. The one issue i had was the fact that the remote control would operate both Humax devices causing some confusion. I had to search the internet to find how to change the frequency of the new remote to eliminate this conflict. It would be helpful if this guidance was in the user manual. Overall I am delighted with the machine now that I have a new broadband aerial to improve reception. The aerial installer also thought I had bought the best Smart Freeview machine available.

VERY noisy in operation. Some useful features on older models no longer available. Interface too complicated. But it does the job, and I can now record from more than 2 channels without conflicts.
