“An excellent box, with all the toys you could ever want. The only thing I miss from my (very) old Humax box is that there is now no skip forward/back on recorded programmes. Other than that, this is a fantastic buy for those of us who have a perfectly good TV without iPlayer/ITV Hub/Netfix and so on and don't want to replace it just yet! Love it!!”
“This review was posted on Trust Pilot, 28th May 2019. I have no reason to change the views expressed since then, it has continued to impress and is a superb piece of equipment.
"Having owned a Humax PVR for some years, found their customer service excellent, when I decided to upgrade my set up I compared their current offering with others. I selected the FVP 5000T with a 1Tb disc at £229, based on expected performance and reviews. It was delivered the following day, took at least 10 minutes to install and set up using the provided handbook, and is a complete revelation. It replaces the PVR provided with my phone/internet/TV package and quite frankly I should have changed ages ago. The Humax is so easy to use, short cuts are intuitive, and the response time is superfast - no access delay at all. A brilliant piece of equipment and a really competitive price - total recommendation, no caveats."”
“Works well and after some fiddling with the settings will communicate with and
allow multi room with our other 5000 FVP so a good substitute for Sky Q which we have junked. Irritations are on/off light not being visible and occasionally not being able to go back in time. Not sure whether the latter problem is a Freeview Play fault or the boxes.”
“I have been loyal to Humax but I may not again.
Unable to access ITV hub over Wi-fi (fixed by using long cable to Ethernet then back to Wi-fi).
Issues with remote losing connection despite changing channel.
App is not the friendliest and given the drive to HD I want a player on the remote that with play HD recordings not just SD. Fundamental requirement.”
“I have had a Humax 9300T recorder for many years, and picture stability and quality was suffering. Initially, reception on the 5000T was very poor, but excellent help line support soon sorted that out via 'manual tuning', so that I now get excellent reception, with a significant improvement in picture quality. My gripes ? I agree with previous comments that the 'off' (red light) and the 'on' (blue light) are not easily visible, and whilst the manual is good enough for setting up, it is very limited in problem solving. for example, I've now set up my 'favourite channels', but I can find no way of accessing the favourites list in order to select a channel easily. i shall probably be able to stumble across it at some stage, but it would be very helpful if there were an alphabetical index as part of the troubleshooting section. one final observation is that I also have an HDR 1100S for use with my satellite dish. The programme guide and recordings management screens work quite differently in each machine: it's a real pity they don't work in the same way. I think the HDR 1100S is better ! Both the HDR 1100S and the PVR9300T were able to 'jump ahead' (very useful during commercial breaks). I haven't yet found out if this facility exists in the 5000T - a great loss if this function has been lost.”
