Good compact machine, I ordered it from the the factory and mistakenly thought it was satellite. It performed all functions perfectly.

Does not work properly to my Samsung SAM UE32H4000 television. In particular, HDMI is incompatible and I cannot get the screen sizes to match. Do not buy without a written warranty that it is fully compatible with your television. Also, very slow in operation.

I've had several Humax boxes over the years, both Freesat and Freeview. Much improved over the older Freeview models, but still slightly lacking. No facility to incorporate apps such as a VPN. Freesat models still more user friendly interface.

This replaced a Fox 2 PVR and is in general a significant improvement with one significant exception. On the Fox 2 when playing back programs there is a >> button which steps forward through the video such that two presses of the button almost exactly covers the advert breaks. There is no such option on this model so it is much harder to smoothly avoid adverts-one of the main advantages of recording programs!

Trying to get my head around the controls on this device, most controls work ok, I seem to have a problem with the remote settings using my mobile, being of an age(senior),I'm waiting for my mentor (son) to visit and tell me where I am/might be going wrong!!

I bought this to replace my FVP 4000 which was playing up by rebooting in the middle or sometimes just after switching on, but still good enough as a backup. This model so far has been first class, but the only fault is WHY did you put the 'blue on light' underneath you can hardly see if its on or not, I have tried silver paper to help but with little luck. The light at the front of the FVP 4000 was far better although not perfect. Its like going back to the earlier HDR-Fox 12 models when it was almost impossible to see if it was red or blue when fitted around the circular knob. We do watch TV when its daylight or with lights on, not just when the room is in pitch darkness and you can see it more clearly.

We have had Humax recorders of various types for many years and have always been very pleased with them. The FVP-5000T is a marvellous bit of kit and offers a vast range of choice of available programmes. Unfortunately, on this particular model, Humax seem to have lost their way a little on making it user friendly. To carry out the most simple task now involves a lot of button pushing and manoeuvring through procedures. This is why I haven't given it a 5. Also, as other people have mentioned, the on/off indicator light can only be seen close up.
