This version is a big improvement on our old humax freesat (can't remember what that is -500 GB, twin tuner, about 5yrs old). I may be writing the review prematurely because I haven't really "fiddled" with it yet. I gave 5 stars, but changed it to 4, because although I like the epg, I don't like the fact that it comes on with the epg and you have 2 ok's to do before you even start watching. I don't like that I have to say "yes, watch now" every time I use the epg to change channel - I clicked on the program didn't I? Of course I want to watch it! The wind back feature was somewhat confusing at first, it took a little time to figure out what was going on because it doesn't go back as it goes forward and the listings are top to bottom rather than right to left, but now we know that will be fine. I haven't yet found a "manual tune" option which was frustrating in the set up process because it turned out our old humax wasn't dying, but there was a fault with the aerial lead. Only one tuner could find the channels on both boxes but we didn't realise that was why the old humax was failing until I tried to install the new one. If I continued past the "tune" stage regardless of partial failure to find channels, then "fiddled" with the aerial cable, I had to do factory reset and start the whole process over because I couldn't find "manual tune" in any settings. Then how do we gind new channels? It must be hidden somewhere surely! My husband is a little dissapointed that the "fast forward" jumps in chunks instead of speeding up the action. He used to watch the football in ff (cos I hate football) and could folow it in x2, but alas, no longer because the chunks miss some of the action, so I am consigned to my jigsaw, reading, or Angry Birds for the length of a match. Hmm, maybe I should downgrade the rating again? Yes I will, it's just gone down to 3 which is disappointing. The MOST disappointing thing though, is that within 2 or 3 weeks of buying it, a new model has come out with 3 tuners! That would negate the strange need to switch to watching through tv whenever recording 2 channels and watching a third involves BBC! What on earth is it with BBC that causes this phenomena?

Working well now that I have my BT Hub nearer than previously. Some films on Net Flix took a while to stream. But as above working ok now. A pity a printed manual is not included in the price. There are about 50 pages on the internet download a bit of a cost for a printer to cope with.

WE are impressed by the small size and ease of installation of our new HDR-1100s 1TB Freesat recorder. We use it in conjunction with a 7 year old Panasonic Freeview TV reciever and the Smart facility of the recorder means that we have full access to the 'catch-up' services. Delivery from Humax direct was prompt and efficient

This is our 3rd Humax box, each one an improvement on the last. Only one winge, the noise when using the remote.
