“THE STAFF SPOKEN ARE BRILLIANT. Wood I buy another Humax - I doubt it. Why? The instructions supplied to use the machine are not meant for an 82 year old non 'techy'. No doubt the machine is as good as the staff, but I will never get the best out of it because I will never be able to use it properly Why. Because the instructions are not aimed at OAP non techys.

“At last Hamax have abandoned the aweful display of recorded programmes in the Freeplay FVP 4000T. The new menus are logical and work well. Also the controller has a definite click and so far there is an immediate response. The only downside is no ability to dump the very many unwanted channels.”
“This unit has performed OK as far as the picture quality is concerned, the channels available are fine and there is plenty to watch. However the sound reproduction is not as it should be. On standard definition the sound is also fine, however on high definition the only sound available is a loud rasping noise devoid of any actual speech/music. If the audio description button made active normal sound comes on, but then the audio description is intrusive. I have reported this to Humax several days ago, before Christmas but have yet to have a reply. So far not even an acknowledgement. This is not what I expect of technical support. I am not impressed.”
“This machine is nothing like as good as our previous Humax
It lacks the features one would expect on a recording device
There is no screen therefore you cannot tell which channel you are viewing or recording or how far through a recording you are. You have to turn the television on to find out which channel you are on and you have to pause the recording to find out how much time there is left to watch
There is no slow motion feature and fast-forward is jerky
Lip sync goes out of synchronisation
The remote handset is difficult to use and the on screen instructions are not intuitive
The machine gets very hot”
