“Our freeview transmitter doesn`t have all channels - now I have them with freesat Great picture quality and a comprehensive EPG which does take a bit of getting used to. The method to facilitate recording of programmes and playing back content from another source are not well described, though I can`t complain. If I had wanted a a fully fledged pvr I should have bought a different model. So, a great way to watch free to air, with catch up well implemented.”

“we moved into a house without an aerial but we did have a satellite dish. This box allows us to watch TV with a good picture. We initially could not connect but that was our fault and found the box via HDMI on the TV menu. We have not used the iplayer service as it is not connected to the internet .-. What would be useful is if Humax sold an accessory which allowed wifi to the box rather than via an ethernet cable I'm aware that the new model boxallows access via wifi”

“A great value set-top box with a smart EPG and all the catch-up TV functions. This was the chief reason for buying one because our old (and still working!) Foxsat HDR is no longer supported by BBC iPlayer. Picture quality is great and there has been very little buffering, even on a relatively modest broadband connection. The HB-1000S also features a very capable network media player facility which allows me to play music and video from a network share. Curiously, there is no mention of this at all in the manual yet there are pages devoted to setting up remote controls of numerous varieties. Even the people at Humax support played down this aspect of the box but I think the media player is a big selling point. By default the remote controls for both Freesat boxes affect both boxes so there is a risk of messing something up on the wrong device. It's a very simple matter to set one remote to use a different code but that isn't in the manual either. If anything it's these omissions from the manual that let down a great product. Take note, Humax.”

“This is our second box we have purchased, the first one being a HDR. Can't fault it and would recommend Humax and have in fact done this already. Buying direct from Humax was 5 star service, it was delivered the next day and in fact was also the cheapest.”
