If you do not like untidy or scruffy or unkemp then avoid Heritage meadow turf as all three are in abundance . The results after several months of growth is nothing at all as shown or described on the website . Long straggly grass and clover are dominant ( including large weeds) with no sign of the glorious colours that would appear year after year. My son in law bought a packet of seeds for a few pounds achieving a colourful result , so top tip ..... do likewise and buy some seed first as a dummy run or if you must , buy only one metre of meadow turf to avoid an expensive disappointment.I have contacted the organisation twice to report my concerns and was advised to remove any grass to allow other species to get sunlight and grow , which says it all I suppose .In summary , a really awful and costly debarcle which was not fit for purpose . The one star has been awarded for delivery as it was on time . Be aware , really aware .

Headline: The turf worked great. Installed on 10th April and had flowers by early May. Continuing to bloom now in June. Not as much variety of species (and therefore colour) as expected, but hope to be able to rectify for next year by re-seeding. Detailed: We wanted to turf a previously gravel-covered front garden which has full sun. The site is slightly sloped. We removed the gravel and put in low fertility soil, to a depth of approx 10-15cm. We installed the heritage meadowmat turf on top on the same day it arrived. It went down easily and we watered it every day for three weeks, as instructed. Installed on 10th April, now in June it is approximately 40-60cm tall and looks lovely. We would like more colour variety – most of the flower species are white and purple colours – and many of the species listed have not made an appearance. There have been no poppies for instance (despite being listed in the flower mix and flowering already this year elsewhere nearby). I am pretty sure we will be able to successfully add seeds this autumn, though. I cannot comment on the effect of the low fertility soil as we did not try it without. However, I have attempted to grow wildflowers from seed before in regular soil, with very little success. If I had my time again, I would order the soil to arrive at an earlier date than the turf. Even though I paid for morning delivery, it was a big day shifting 5 tons of soil and then laying turf. It would have been better to remove the time pressure by getting the soil down over a few days, then installing the turf quickly on another day (as the turf must go down on the day it arrives). Other things to note: The turf was very quick to go down and easy enough to cut. There were sections where the turf was a lot thicker than other patches (due to the perennial roots already in place), so it won’t be as easy to get neat as regular turf (but you will never notice it again once the grass and flowers grow). Delivery was by a full-sized lorry. The large bags of soil weigh one ton each, and are delivered on a single pallet each. Therefore, once the pallets of soil are down, they will not be moved until the bags of soil are mostly empty (so be sure not to order too much!)

The turf was delivered on time. All people who interacted with me were helpful and polite. Already I have some flowers and the turf looks healthy. My only concern was the orange plastic netting that surrounded the turf on the palet. This appears to be made of nylon; certainly plastic. Plastic netting is very environmentally unfriendly. Any chance a better alternative can be used?

When the Heritage turf arrived it looked great, and absolutely full of wildflower plants. It was very easily laid, and after a week is looking very healthy, and appears to have started rooting already. I am very pleased with my purchase, and the help I had, emails answered almost immediately, with answers to my questions and extra information as well. Thank you.
