“Beautiful looking house which was initially occupied enthusiastically by our mason bees. However: 1) for some reason although most of the channels were soon capped, they were all less than full, sometimes with only one or two cells completed before being capped. I have no idea why. It doesn't happen with our other bee houses which have horizontal observation drawers or cardboard tubes . 2) the house has now been attacked by something (bird? Wasp?) which has made holes in all the mud caps and also quite badly damaged it by chipping out wood beside the channel entrances. The bees which were previously seen working in some of the unfinished channels have now all gone elsewhere, leaving the channels unfinished. In conclusion: a beautiful but not properly functional solitary bee house, at least in my very rural garden.”
