Brilliant. I've just emptied the trap after 6 weeks, replaced the water and added the other attractant. Not a very pleasant job, but it had worked and contained lots of Chafer beetles which didn't end up laying eggs in my grass or flying around lamps indoors. I recommend it. I treated my lawn with nematodes last year and will treat it again this year.

It's caught 20+ bees, no chafer beetles. There are chafer beetles flying around the garden and crawling in the grass.

I have had this in the garden since I bought it and all I have caught is bees. I know I have many chafer beetles as I have dug up some larvae. I also know that many beetles have emerged as I can see holes in the mud (that was previously grass) I have captured a few beetles on my washing and identified them. Very disappointed

Sadly we have been quite disappointed with these. Despite having numerous Chaffer beetles flying around they took zero interest in these traps. The saddest part was that the only thing that did take an interest were numerous honey bees and bumble bees. After a fortnight of having them hung with a total catch rate of zero Chaffer bugs and over 40 bees we took them down as we didn’t want any more bees to die. Such a shame.

After reading about this chafer beetle trap with lures I thought that this would be the ideal item to prevent the chafer beetle settling on my lawn , laying its eggs resulting with another infestation of chafer grubs . What wasnt stated was that the trap also catches bee's and this has resulted in a large number of bees being trapped and consequently killed.Although the trap did catch the chafer beetle , more bee's than chafer beetle were killed and I'm NOT in favour of killing bee's .So be warned. I have since removed the trap and do not intend using this item to control chafer grubs again

I'm sure this would work for the beetles, but I wasn't happy to find that the bees were also attracted to it. After several days of removing bedraggled bees from the trap, I stopped using it. Can't you have one with a smaller access to keep the bees out?

I discovered an infestation of chafer grubs last August when I was able to peel my lawn back like a carpet. In a 5M X 5M section which I dug up and reseeded, I found over 500 grubs. I found them all over my lawn. I treated the lawn (400 sqm) with nematodes in September but when I dug up a 1M radius circle in March to plant a tree I found more than 50. I therefore bought a couple of traps that have been out for a few weeks. So far the score is chafer beetles nil bees 50 - 100. I have now removed the water from the traps to prevent killing up to a dozen bees every day. I know there are thousands of chafer grubs in my lawn but the traps haven’t caught a single beetle but are having an adverse effect on the local bee population
