We caught a moth within the first few days of putting it in position - obviously effective

A minor problem with the trap is that the lower portion, containing the water, does not clip securely to the top part, which is used to suspend the trap. On several occasions the lower part has fallen off and I have had to secure it to the supporting post with a rubber band.

Hi This worked so well last year but we have not caught one moth this year. I am pretty sure there are many around as my box in infested with the eggs and caterpillars. All a bit odd!

I have been purchasing these from you for 6 years now. Each trap lasted for 2 seasons They have played a very important part in keeping my box tree plants free of caterpillars.I can average 50 male moths per week in the summer. The lures certainly last into October One of the 3 traps that I received keeps coming apart. The bottom of the trap comes away from the lid and it falls to the ground the lid which holds the little basket with the lure then got blown out in the wind and I found it lying in amongst some plants on a v wet day. Due to the cold weather the moths have not arrived yet but I expect it wont be long now. I would have given 5 stars except for the problem with one of the traps. In spite of the high numbers of moths I catch I have only ever seen 2 caterpillars in my box plants over the last 6 years This proves that they work.

Well, it works and keeps on working throughout the season. Last year it collected a large number of these wretched pests whose caterpillars had decimated my lovely miniature box trees on my central London balcony to a 3rd ~Floor flat. I have replenished the lure for this year and added a further trap just to be sure.

The trap has worked well. In 26 days I have captured 360 moths (at first 20 per day declining, eventually, to about 5 a day). The instructions state that one should put up to 3cm of water in the trap. But the trap could not sustain this weight and would fall apart. It would only sustain 1cm of water so I have used it without water and empty it every morning. I await to see the impact upon my many metres of box hedging. Fingers crossed.

I bought this in desperation after finding an infestation of box moth caterpillars in my garden in early June. After two weeks I had two moths in the trap. Today I have another five, so I am hoping this is helping to stem the second wave of devastation. My only problem is what to do with the moths - it took about 10 days for the first two to die naturally. I don’t think it’s easy to unclip the base but stop the moths flying off.
