Magnolias are deciduous or evergreen shrubs commonly found in woodlands or along river banks. They are grown for their showy, erect flowers which come in a wide range of colours from white to purple. Leaves are borne after the flowers and are ovate and alternate. Magnolias grow well in moist, well drained soil in sun or partial shade. Bull Bay are evergreen dense upright trees with large dark green glossy leaves rusty brown beneath. Bears cup shaped, highly scented of lemon, creamy white flowers from July to September. Requires a rich soil in full sun or light shade. Magnolia Grandiflora are evergreen trees with large dark green glossy leaves. Bears large cup shaped creamy white flowers from late summer. Heights can reach up to 12 meters.
