Hakonechloa is a deciduous perennial grass. The leaves are thin and are very similar to bamboo. They have a distinctive rustling sound when the wind blows. Flowers bloom in summer onwards. To grow Hakonechloa they like moist well drained soil, in sun or partial shade. Prune back any old flower stems or old leaves in late winter. Hakonechloa Aureola bears arching, green-striped, bright yellow leaves that often turn a reddish-tinged in autumn. Height upto 50cm.
