Betula also known as Himalayan Birch - can be a deciduous tree or shrubs, usually colouring well in autumn and often with striking white, pink, or peeling brown bark; separate male and female catkins open before or with the leaves in spring.
Birch trees thrive in full sun and require moist but well-drained soil. In a garden setting it is advised to add a high quality fertiliser when planting such as a tree and shrub compost.
Betula Utilis Jacquemontii is a deciduous, elegant tree with icy- white peeling bark.Long yellow-brown catkins in spring. Large dark green leaves that turn yellow in autumn. Height 8m or more without pruning.
