Plum Moth Traps and Refills Pheromone Traps Reviews

Read Gardening Naturally Reviews

The major cause of maggot damage to plums and gages is the caterpillar of the Plum Fruit Moth. This Plum Fruit Moth Trap uses the 'Pheromone' scent of the female moth to attract and catch male moths.
The trap should be placed in the garden at the end of May or after petal drop. If the spring weather is exceptionally warm, or in sheltered urban gardens, it may be an advantage to install the trap in mid May.
In the garden one trap should monitor up to 3 average size trees. It should be hung at around head height on the windward side of the tree (or group of trees).
The trap contains everything you need for a year and the refill allows for the use of the trap for a second year.

Used these plum moth traps last year and were effective at reducing the number of plums lost to larvae.

These trap quite a few moths but there is still a little fruit damage (plum and damson). They seem to do slightly better than the apple moth traps.

Last year was a bad year for plum/gage/damson trees, loads of plum moths around. There were maggots even in the sloes I picked. This year loads of blossom already on the trees so these refills will help to indicate what's it's going to be like this year.

They did the trick last year when for the first time we had edible plums!

I used this trap in a plum tree last year and next tree down the orchard was a damson. The trap caught a large number of moths and the subsequent fruit was much less infested than in the previous year when every fruit had a resident plum moth larva.
