Well designed. Sturdy. Long handle means I can cut at ground level or overhead. Won't cut tree branches like a machete but cuts through blackberry bushes if you swing hard enough.

I gave the sickle as a present to a family member. I do have a Darlac short handled sickle and it is very effective. Because it is so sharp, it would have been perfect if it had a blade guard supplied as well.

Ordered the sickle to cut reeds that had taken over our natural pond. Perfect tool for the job, light to use, well balanced and effective. Probably a stroke of luck but the sickle could be left in the water with the end of the handle floating just above the surface, great when you're in the middle of the pond gathering the cut reeds together. All in all, really pleased with the product and very happy to recommend this item.

Without doubt, the best money I’ve spent in the garden! I’ve recently bought a barn conversion with a half acre paddock - untouched by human hand for decades. There were waist-high rushes, thistles, docks, nettles and brambles. I was going to hire a sickle bar mower but the land was so boggy and stony I was frightened of ruining the machine. I have absolutely no experience of using a sickle, but thought for the money I’d give it a try first before I gave in and hired a team of strong men. I’ve just finished the last strip this morning - under a week since I started. Not only do I have a neat(ish) paddock, I’ve got muscles Arnie would be proud of, and a very smug, self-satisfied feeling. Buy one!
