“It had its first use today. I found it a bit tricky to get the handle inside my "Darlek" compost bin but it seems quite sturdy. The compostable bags got a bit tangled round the end of the aerator and stopped the wings opening properly so in future I won't put them in the bin. Once I got them off it worked fine. I wish I'd bought one of these when I first started my bin but as a newbie to composting, I didn't know.”

“I couldn’t get this to work at all. When I pull the device back up out of the heap, the wings don’t open until the they emerge at the top. So it’s no better than pushing a pole into the heap and then withdrawing it again. And the pole is too short. I tried first in a Dalek-type bin and then an open heap where it worked slightly better because it was deeper. But the wings still didn’t open until near the top leaving the majority of the depth unturned.”

Response from our manufacturer: "It could be either the customer is not employing the correct technique or that their compost is too tightly compacted for the tool to work correctly" We have sent you the full instructions for this.

“The tool is very good at turning the compost but I initially had a problem as the two bolts and wing nuts became detached and one set was lost in the compost we retrieved one set. We luckily had another bolt and wing nut. We think that the bolts are slightly too short. Our compost is much healthier now.”
