“Having been only the 2nd G4i in the UK I thought it best to wait a few months to write my experiences so far.
I judge things on how it makes you feel and I smile every time I ride it - which has been every day since the end of July 2021.
There are as ever some nuances to owning one:
*Get the mud guards if you don't want wet feet - annoyingly additional cost which is mad for a £4k bike designed by a Brit who should know by now what our weather is like.
*Watch out on braking late as the front wheel can judder a bit if you are going too fast.
*The battery life will not last too long if you are lazy and want assistance all the time.
*For some reason I have gone through numerous inner tubes as they just seem to split. Not the bikes fault but annoying all the same.
Not really much more to add apart from to say that overall this is quite possibly the best bike I have ever ridden and I will hopefully enjoy it for years to come.”
“I am fortunate enough to own the new Gocycle G4i and I cannot stop grinning about it.
As an employee at Fully Charged, I have had the privilege of riding some of the world's best eBikes, and continue to be surprised by the innovations our manufacturers make year on year.
I can say, with absolute certainty, that I have not ridden a more versatile eBike than the G4i. The practicality of having a fast-folding electric bike when living in London cannot be overestimated. I store my Gocycle in my flat, walk it around the shops with me, take it on the train to go and see my parents down in Bath and after a few lemon sherbets can pop it in the back of a cab!
The difference in the new G4 motor compared to older models is very noticeable, with it being more intuitive and having greater lower-end torque than the GX and GXi. I love how everything is integrated, with its enclosed battery, internal wiring and a magnesium box that encloses the chain. It's sophisticated, it's classy, it's damn right sexy.
I live in Shepherd's Bush, so my commute involves riding up Holland Park Avenue and into Hyde Park, saluting Buckingham Palace, going over Waterloo Bridge (past Parliament and the London Eye), past The National Theatre, nodding at The Shard and arriving at Fully Charged ready for what work will bring. With my G4i, I can honestly say it is always my favourite part of the day.
