Organic Chickpea Flour is a dense flour which adds texture and flavour to baking.
Organic chickpea flour is a delicious alternative to traditional wheat flours as it is naturally gluten free.   This tasty organic flour is milled from whole dried chickpeas.

Because chickpea flour is ground down from the whole pea it contains the same nutritional value as chickpeas themselves.  Just one 25g serving contains high levels of folate and is a source of Copper and Manganese.  This makes chickpea flour is a great choice nutritionally and it contains more fibre and protein than wheat flour.  If you need somewhere to get started with this tasty flour give this chickpea omelette recipe a try or have a go at our turmeric falfal recipe.

Chickpea flour makes wonderful onion bajhis and has a strong tradition in Indian, Pakistani, Nepali and Bangladeshi cuisines.  Chickpea flour works as a binder so it can be used in the place of eggs in vegan cooking.  Chickpea flour works in breads, cakes and pancakes for a alternative to traditional wheat based flours.  It also combines well with other flours such as tigernut flour, almond flour or buckwheat flour.

Ingredients: Organic Chickpeas

Origin: Turkey, Italy, India

Allergen Information: Packed on premises that handle gluten, tree nuts, sesame, soya, peanuts, celery, mustard.

Brilliant for making socca - a tasty pancake that they sell in the south of france. Just whisk chickpea flour and water - cook in a frypan - best result on a wood fire or wood oven! Top with whatever you have in the fridge - bits of meat/fish/beans, olives, any cooked veg - lots of fried onions and garlic - and a slug of olive oil on top - a few herbs.... Or - serve as in France - just salt and olive oil!

Great for chickpea bread and as an extra bit of flavour, to replace a quarter of the flour I use in my savoury pancakes.
