Organic Mung Beans love being sprouted.
Organic Mung Beans are bright green and sprout beautifully into springy little sprouts.  They are high in vegetarian protein so are a good addition to vegetarian and vegan recipes.  Mung beans can take the place of meat in a range of traditional recipes and give a great texture.

These little mung beans are nutritional powerhouses.  One 70g serving of cooked mung beans is high in Folate and Copper.  Did you know that the nutritional value increases when mung beans are sprouted?  They become a source of vitamin C and K which are both needed for normal maintenance of the immune system.

Sprouting releases a whole host of nutrients as the seeds and pulses become living food - they are still growing when they reach your plate. This is a really cheap way to grow organic produce all year round from your kitchen sideboard (with very little work).

If you want to try sprouting with a range of beans and seeds try our organic sprouting mix.  You can learn how to sprout here with our easy guide.  Want to try a recipe with cooked mung beans?  Give this mung bean salad recipe a try.

Mung beans are as expected. Packaging needs thought as to how plastic will be avoided in the future. I reuse the bags (I freeze items then pop them out of tubs into these bags) but the bags don't seal and I now have an awful lot in use in my freezer plus many spares. I will now start to look elsewhere for a supplier who is thinking about plastic waste - even though this will cost me more (I will eat less and even more healthily to pay for this as I have some spare flesh!) It's all very well worrying about pesticides etc but we need to worry about the plastic bags too as it's all connected! I know this isn't easy when you are worried about mung beans loose in parcels and spillage, but there really isn't another option other than we start to resolve this (in my opinion). I will now look for a store that sells these items loose and vote with my wallet if nothing is done (sorry). Otherwise the service is fantastic - good information, easy ordering, delivered in a fair timescale, sturdy box (which I can reuse and can pass on to those who are moving house to reuse again) - just unfortunately too many not-very-useful plastic bags!
