This saw is one of the most versatile tools I have. The ability to accurately and quickly cut wood and metal is a huge time saver. Previously I used a 12" Milwaukee slider and found it to be too large and heavy. The R255SMS is the perfect saw for my needs.

Having recently committed to a larger project in the garden building a large chicken coop and run I used the opportunity to fulfil myself a wish I had for a long time buying a mitre saw. The evolution R255SMS sliding mitre saw came in my online research among the top choices in th UK market for the hobby user looking for an economic option I was a little disappointed when I realised that this model does not come with the dust collection bag nor the Hoover adapter pipe. The saw is a little cumbersome to carry along but once secured on a ground position it worked really well and cut my pieces of wood accurately and cleanly . I realised then that the R255SMS+ version also exist with more accessories As I was working outside in the garden on a sunny day it didn't matter too much with the dust as I was not in a confined space. The laser cutting support doesn't really help much in a sunny environment as I could barely see the line so I didn't bother with it. I did however get a little shock when I did my first bevel cut at45 degree: the piece of wood was cut brilliantly but so was the sliding upper fence section which also got cut in the process.. The guidebook says "adjustment may be necessary"" is not making it clear enough for the novice in my opinion that unless you move it out of the way at 45 degree the upper fence section will be damaged and in my case I have cut the corner straight off. Not quite sure what the point of that is ? One thing I did find out is that the blade cuts metal as well

Not sure I like the soft start, you have to wait till it gets up to speed before you start cutting
