Nice saw. Works well although dust collection is poor even with a vacuum connected to the dust port.

This is the only mitre saw that I've ever bought and used. I've only used it to cut soft-wood (feather boards, rough sawn timber). I bought this saw because it is said to be able to cut through different types of material and this seemed ideal in case I ever needed it for cutting anything other than softwood in the future. The saw cuts through softwood very well. I've used it to cut at 90 degree and 45 degree angles. The saw does a good clean job of cutting softwood. The saw is easy to use. The hand grip and trigger for starting and moving the saw downwards are comfortable and easy to hold. With my free hand I used that to hold the wood in place. I'm not sure I would want to do this if cutting a piece of metal, but, there is nothing substantial on the unit to keep the thing to be cut in place securely. It could do with a much better clamp, and two of them instead of one. The laser guide light is useless and I stopped using it after the first few bits of wood cut. The light visibility is poor and the light-lens kept getting covered in saw dust. Instead I lined the saw blade up with pencil lines. After finishing with the saw, I wanted to dismantle and pack it away. When getting the sliding rail out, the rail got stuck inside the frame with no way of getting it out. There are spring loaded securing pins on the ends of the rails, that can be closed and secured in the closed position by pulling out a plastic tab at the end of each rail (the pins keep the saw secured to the rail). When removing the rail from the frame the pins ejected and became caught inside the frame. I tried everything I could to get it the rail out without causing any damage, but, in the end I had to use force this caused the bearings inside the frame to come out and scatter all over the place. The saw can still be used. It just doesn't have one of the guide bearings inside the frame anymore. Inside the frame there is four plastic inserts with ball bearings to keep the rail inline and to provide a smooth movement when cutting. But the plastic inserts holding the bearings in place don't meet up on the inside, so there is a gap half way inside the frame and this gap is where the securing pins on the rail ends popped out and the rail got stuck. A foreseeable design flaw that should have been corrected before it went on sale. I would buy this saw again to do DIY work and think it has a reasonable price tag when compared to other mitre saws.
