Great saw except for the mitre gauge. It's a bit floppy on pieces that overhang the table

As a previous owner of the Evolution Rage 5S Table saw, I was well acquainted with all the features of a top performing machine. Yes, there were some problems, but only one that really impacted on my enjoyable usage of the saw -- you guessed it Dust Collection! The new 255 TBL+, has addressed all of the previous niggles, and then some, and kept all the features that have made it such a joy to own and work with, the Dust collection had undoubtedly been improved, but the long trailing hose is a real unsightly pain, and when I rang Customer Service to ask where was my L Bend dust diverter, I was told that it wasn`t supplied with my 1800W Motor, top of the range machine. DUH, buy the best and you miss out on what I would think should be an integral part of a new uprated Dust Collection system. The long trailing hose is there to connect to the dust port on the plastic Blade Guard which is my particular bone of contention. Give all your thoughts to producing a tool that has features that most comparable tools on the market can`t compete with, and then equip it with a crucial piece of safety equipment that just is not fit for purpose. With the guard in place, it is impossible to make cuts using a fence setting less than 130m from the blade, because the fastener that fixes the guard to the riving knife, interferes with the setting of the fence - and don`t get me started on the fiddly, useless fixing that is this offending fastener. The net result is that fixing the Blade Guard to do it`s job, and prevent amputation of precious digit,s is such a pain in the proverbial that it isn`t worth the hassle. Therefore, the table dust collection doesn`t get used either. Major demerit marks Evolution. Would I buy it again ?? Most certainly, it`s a first class addition to the workshop, but PLEASE finish the job properly, and while you are at it, a Zero Clearance Throat Plate should have come as standard.

On setup, the saw accuracy for alignment was spot on. The instructions for building the stand could be better! The riving knife, although good, does not retract (as in the manual) and is a bit misleading...this is useful for rebates, etc. I did contact the Company about this and was told that the manual had not been updated, however, there will be a rifing knife available next 'quarter' that will allow this...My annoyance..why would you remove a riving knife to replace with another to cut grooves when you should have the ability to lower the existing one? ...you are probably just going to keep it out? :-| Final observation...the dust extraction...why reduce the port to 'vacuum size (1"), when this could be easily kept to the 2"??? FYI I connect a 2" hose to the bottom and a hoover to the guard.

Mark, There were several items that we wanted for the new saws but they would have delayed the launch, so there's a bunch of accessories coming. Making the riving knife height adjustable independent of the blade height wasn't something we could achieve within the space and accuracy constraints of the design, accuracy and dust extraction quality below the table took precedence. The shorter riving knife is a compromise, but it will be below blade height allowing for partial thru cuts which we hope will cover most use cases. The 90 degree dust port elbow will be available as a spare part with the other parts, zero clearance insert kit, riving knife etc. We have just revised the stand instructions with additional details, they should be on the website for the weekend.

So far so good. Very impressed with build quality and accuracy of cut. I actually ordered the Rage 5S which was in transit to me when the R255 was announced. The improvements on this model are substantial and so far very impressed. Customer service were very good, cancelling the Rage order and reordering the R255. I think the likes of Dewalt etc should be worried!

table saw attatched to the stand was way too big to fit through my doorway.I have to remove all the top components to allow me to drag the whole unit sideways out of the door.there is no chance i can just roll the unit out through a standard door.such a faff and very disapointing.I wouldnt have bought it if i had realised it was so big....
