I thought overall the course was not particularly well ran. The one positive was the ULaw revision app - it is a brilliant tool that really did help when it came to actually sit SQE1. However, I do not think the format of the course was conducive to effective learning. I appreciate that this is a part-time, online course and there is only so much ULaw can do, but I had expected far more 'actual' teaching. To me, this felt like I had paid £4,000 (which is a LOT of money) to have access to some textbooks and the revision app. The weekly sessions almost invariably involved students teaching themselves the content, taking a practice test, and then the lecturers would briefly skip over some the questions - there were very few times that the sessions felt useful to me. Again, there is only so much the teaching staff can do, but for £4,000 I thought I would at least be taught all of the content, rather than be required to teach myself. In some sessions the lecturer would note that they do not have enough to go through everything in detail, which I though is a shame given that I have paid for their expertise. One notable occassion was when the teacher told us of the time contraints they had, and proceeded to spend five minutes of their precious time recommending Netflix shows they had watched that vaguely relate to the subject we were going over (unprofessional and a waste of every student's time). The revision app and the textbooks were great, and that is as far as it goes. If I had the option, I would have paid a smaller fee to have access to the course materials/revision app, and completely miss the 'teaching'. SQE was designed to make the profession cheaper and more accessible, but it appears that the course providers (ULaw, BPP et al) have decided that they'll cash in on students, and not deliver anywhere near the standard of teaching required for someone to have the requisite knowledge of a day 1 NQ solicitor. In terms of SQE 2, I have little choice in who will teach me and will be coming back to ULaw and paying thousands more pounds. I do hope the standard of teaching is better on that course.

By way of feedback, I have found the Bite Size Videos extremely helpful, Having this resource available as mini lecture videos or supplementary videos for both practice and law over time (especially on the core areas that affect SQE1 and 2 in my opinion would be invaluable to students at they provide fundamental principles and give some direction to help focus the mind whilst avoiding confusion from information overload all in one go which I personally find when reading a lot of chapters of a book and attempting to create notes The current resources have helped me manage my time, continue a full-time job in practice and make vast improvements in my results

I studied the part-time online SQE1 course. From what I have heard from other students, the level of support provided to online students is significantly less than the support provided to students who study in person. I found that the manuals included a lot of information that would be more akin to an essay style of the exam rather than SBAQ, as the manuals went into a lot of detail about the development of the law, rather than what the law actually is (which is the purpose of the SQE exams). I found the questions on Synap to be very repetitive as a lot of them only slightly varied the fact pattern (and the law they were testing was fundamentally the same). I think it would be more beneficial to vary the questions on specific points of law rather than simply changing the facts. I also found that some of the questions on Synap were wrong, which meant that people who were relying on the Synap practice questions to revise were revising points that were wrong (and which contradicted the manuals). I think some of the questions on the Synap app were very badly drafted to the point where none of the answers were correct in light of the stem. I don't think this was really a part-time course - in the introductory session we were told it would be very difficult to study on this course whilst having a full-time job (which seems counter-intuitive for a part-time course). I think the organisation of the course was also poor - some weeks we would be given limited reading and other weeks we would be expected to read 150 pages for one subject (and we were expected to cover 4 subjects a week). I think it would be better to spread the reading equally across the weeks to avoid people from falling behind. Communication from the course leaders on key dates/sessions to attend were also poor. I thought the weekly sessions we had with tutors weren't very helpful, as we would go through the weekly practice test and a lot of tutors would simply read out the feedback of why we got questions wrong (and we had access to the feedback ourselves, so it didn't contribute anything to our learning). When it came to the SQE1 exam, some things came up on the exam that wasn't covered in the manuals or any of the teaching we received. We also had some study sessions where the tutors didn't turn up.

Great review structure of all topics and the app designed to help students taking similar SQE1 questions is of paramount help.

I found the course really flexible which suited my needs. I worked full-time alongside studying online part-time and I was able to study as and when it suited me. I feel the course sometimes lacked communication but it was easy to find answers to queries on the online portal, Elite. I would recommend this course as it covers the content well and revisits necessary areas of LLB Law. This is very much a self-lead course and if you prefer a 'handholding' approach, it won't necessarily work for you.
