We purchased these speakers for a 50th birthday celebration in a large community centre because we had quite a tight budget and found them to be better value than hiring equipment. The sound quality is decent for the price and we will use them for the next big birthday in the family. Great value, next-day delivery and the dance floor was pretty busy all evening- what more could we ask for?

Definitely mono only! I've tried several methods of connection, using both mic sockets and the phonos, with or without a mixer, and it's always mono. No panning at all. The phono sockets are really not up to it, unless you're forced to input via a mixer, in which case, it's pretty much your only option. So, that's the end of that investigative avenue. Under these conditions, for a single performer, or two on karaoke, there's no point using a mixer at all. I've tested things using an SM58 in "Mic1", and guitar through "Mic2", (with a £12 DBBLOX DI box in between - without it you'll get terrible distortion). Backing tracks play cleanly through Bluetooth. You can, thereafter, set the balances by using the "Mic volume" on the Vonyx for the mic. Then the instrument equalizer and volume controls for that, and with the tablet volume set to maximum, the MP3 volume control for the Bluetooth, (aka backing tracks) The GE on the PA is pretty good all around, at 12 o'clock in both cases, so it's then, just a simple matter of turning up or down the master volume according to the room size. The output is surprisingly, loud, very clean and clear, and more than adequate for a small hall or pub, (even at much less than 50% volume), and maybe even a bit larger, which is good. It's still true that the lack of stereo is a compromise, but for what you pay, if you're a lone wolf it's surprisingly good. I have seen some reviews stating that this is a terrible piece of kit, and it's true, if you want to spend a bit more, you'll get more poke for your buck, but, honestly, if you get it right, and it doesn't breakdown, you should really be OK with this. I'm happy, and if I'm happy, so is my audience....
