This fan operates when the bathroom light is switched off so it is silent when the light is on and very quiet when the light is switched off. It has a humistat which presumably operates the fan when the room becomes steamy but so far this hasn't been called to operate in my case. I am very pleased with the product which replaced a rather noisy fan.

I purchased this to replace an old Newlec fan which was noisy even after cleaning. The Vent Axia installation manual was available online (unlike some other makes) and it had the features I wanted (humidity stat + timer). Unfortunately the installation manual did not provide dimensions, in particular the fixing centres for the 4 screws; but they turned out to be the same as for the old fan (at the corners of a 134mm square). The fan is intended to be mounted with the cable inlet on the right side towards the top. My old fan had the cable at the top side towards the left, so I had to install the fan turned 90deg from the intended orientation. This means that the backdraught preventer, which comprises two very thin pieces of plastic on the back, hinges horizontally instead of vertically. That might perhaps lead to the top section failing to close eventually. In operation the fan behaves as expected. At mid speed it is fairly quiet. A nice feature is that you can set it to "comfort mode", in which the fan doesn't turn on as soon as you turn on the light, but turns on when you turn the light off (or after 20 mins if sooner). Reasons for not giving five stars: 1. It's expensive. Temperature+humidity sensors are very cheap now, £6 on Amazon, so the premium charged for fans with humidity stat is excessive. 2. There is very little space in the wiring chamber for excess mains cable, unlike in the fan it replaced; so I had to cut the cable shorter than I would have liked. 3. Backdraught preventer likely being sensitive to orientation as described earlier.

Seems to do the job and trigger mostly when expected. Very quiet at low speed, somewhat less at higher speeds

Easy to install - quite quiet when running. Variable speed allow you to control the noise level of the fan. Humistat works - had shower without turning light on and the fan came on automatically. Very happy with purchase.

The fan is doing its job very well, good to have no condensation on the walls. It does not seem to be any quieter than the Vent axia Fan I replaced which was 7 years old and not extracting properly.

Silent enough compared to previous fans.

I have no complaints regarding the service from Edwardes (competitive price and prompt delivery) but the fan itself is very disappointing. A major selling point to me were claims of very low noise level. This has not proved to be the case - it is no quieter than the 10 year old Xpelair unit that it replaced and far noisier than other Vent Axia units that I have installed.

The VASF100HTV Silent Fan has revolutionised our bathroom! The humidity control means that it comes on automatically during a shower and stays on for 15 mins. Only 4 stars as only had it installed 3 days ago but so far so good and we are pleased with it.
