Twin and Earth is a name for a type of Mains Electricity Cable, and is the most common cable for domestic wiring today. Comprising of 1 Live (Brown) and 1 Neutral (Blue) sheathed conductor, and a Earth which is of the CPC type (Circuit Protective Conductor) which is bare. The Overall sheath is of PVC Construction to BS6004. The 4.0mm Conductors are Stranded with the CPC earth being 1.5mm Solid, and rated in normal conditions at around 32 Amps, this particular size is common with very Low Power Hobs and Cookers. Also available in cut lengths, 25m and 100m Coils. Not suitable for unprotected use outside as the outer sheath is vunerable to attack from UV, however Alkyd paint is enough to protect it from UV.
