I used the product to replace existing downlighters because these were both significantly brighter and had a wider beam angle than current fittings. They perform even better than I hoped and I would recommend to any competent diy-er with a similar problem. Product quality/build quality seems excellent; the only difficulty was with the push in/screwless electrical connections; these work well but the terminal buttons are very small and fiddly, making it rather difficult when working overhead.

Little material comment - no option if a matching bezel that fits is to be used. Since I am retrofitting replacement lights in existing holes, a slightly wider bezel (ie one that covers a wider existing hole) would be preferable

A high quality product, very convenient and easy to install. These lights are very bright, and are advertised for use in all areas of the house including bathrooms and shower areas. I installed 6 of these LED downlights in 2 rows of 3 down the length of my lounge (5.2m X 3.4m), to replace the existing very dim low voltage lights fitted by the previous owner. After installation, the difference in lighting level was huge, and I now need to make use of the existing dimmer switch to tone down the brightness when watching TV. I think six is more than enough lights for a lounge this size (about the same brightness as installing 5 X 60 Watt conventional incandescent bulbs in the room). The wide dispersion of these LEDs also means I don't have visible "columns" of light coming down from the ceiling (like I had with the old low voltage (MR16) halogen lights). With the LEDs spaced about one metre apart, the lighting in the room is very evenly spread with no bright spots. Note that I have the 4000 degK version of the lights, which emits a fairly hard white light (almost "daylight"). Many may prefer a softer tone of white (e.g. around 3000K or slightly lower), which would be more normal for lounge lighting. Installation was easy. I just pulled the old downlight fitting, wiring and low voltage transformer down through the hole in the ceiling, disconnected it from the mains wiring, reconnected the twin and earth mains wiring to the new LED unit and pushed it up into the hole. A very quick replacement job. The twin and earth house wiring fits very securely in the screwless connector block in the top of the LED unit. It's a simple push fit. An extra set of terminals allows lights to be daisy chained if required. A small screwdriver is needed, but only to prise open the protective cover over the connector block. Each LED light should have a bezel fitted, to be purchased separately because they come in different finishes to match your decor (white, chrome, silver, etc). The bezel fits by hand to the outside of the light in about 5 seconds, with a simple one-eighth turn of the bayonet fitting. I would highly recommend these LED lights.
