The Wrecking Coast Gin uses Cornish clotted cream in its distillation process which is very unusual to say the least!. Smooth and velvety rich, its handcrafted in small batches with slight variations in strength from batch to batch. The gin imparts big bold flavour of juniper with a little creaminess before secondary flavours of coriander and citrus come into the mix. In the production of clotted cream, the cream is baked in its pot giving it that iconic golden crust with a smooth, firm cream beneath. But when heated, the cream separates and the flavours become more caramel than cream. 12 botanicals are used for the body of the gin and they are rested for at least two weeks days in grain spirit. The liquid is then transferred to an iStill; this is a high tech computer controlled still made in Holland, the birth place of gin. Once distilled, its rested for at least another week so that the flavours can stabilise. With the gin resting its then time to handcraft the star ingredient, clotted cream, to achieve the distinct flavour. A hand blown glass vacuum still is used to distill the neutral spirit and fresh clotted cream mix at below room temperature; this creates a crystal-clear spirit that retains the flavours of the clotted cream together with its rich, velvet mouth feel. The clotted cream distillate is then added to the botanical mix and diluted with natural Cornish spring water to produce a velvety smooth gin at around 44% before bottling. This unique approach of mixing two contrasting techniques together, one from ultra modern technology and the other from handcrafting, allows a truly unique and distinct gin to be produced for you to enjoy. The recommended serve is 50ml of gin, Fever Tree Tonic Water and 2 slices of fresh strawberries.. Wrecking Coast Gin is so smooth though you can happily drink it just over ice!

Very smooth..................... smooth as the floor you will end up lying on after drinking too many of these. I did do a comparison of different Feverfew tonics with this, but then made a G&T with too much G and not enough T. To be honest, after that, I didn't mind too much which tonic I was drinking. It's great with a more floral tonic though, rather than a hard core Schweppes. The suggestion of strawberries rather than lemon/lime is excellent. This might actually be a gin for "people who don't like gin" - whoever they are.

My interest was initially piqued when I read about the long distillation process required for the clotted cream used in this gin. I had also been looking for a while for a 'different' gin from a small batch producer to try; add to this that we holidayed in Cornwall in May and visited Boscastle for a day proved to much of a coincidence to me and so I had to purchase a bottle! My intuition was right and I am delighted with The Wrecking Coast Gin; it smells very smooth and soft with a very gentle juniper aroma. It also drinks very smoothly, with no harshness or burning and leaves a lovely lingering after-taste of cream soda on the back of the tongue. On hot summer days I have found it especially nice long over ice with a dash of Cassis and some frozen raspberries all topped up with Fever Tree standard tonic; very reminiscent of a Cornish Cream Tea!

A stunning gin with a unique taste! Can be enjoyed mixed or straight over ice (my favorite way) and always hits the spot. There are many premium gins on the market of which I have tried many but this one stands head and shoulders above them all. This just leaves me to say try this one if you love gin, I'm sure you wont be disappointed!!

Delicious gin....recommended and now we recommend trying. Sliced strawberries instead of citrus fruits, absolutely lush.
