Read Drink Finder Reviews

Old Ballantruan is the peated malt from Tomintoul Glenlivet. It takes its name from the Ballatruan spring in the hills near the distillery. Using heavily peated malted barley, it is bottled at 50% vol with out chill-filtering to retain its natural oils and peaty flavour. Its starts with heathery floral notes then with smoke. The palate is gentle, but developes peaty smokiness and malty flavours. The finish is long and lingering with sweet barley and ash.

If you like peated whisky but find some island malts like Laphroaig too 'hair shirt', this affordable Speyside malt may be a revelation. It's fuller and sweeter than its island competitor - big fat and juicy, yet full of peat and smoke. It may be just what you're looking for. Max

I have had this top notch Malt before many years ago and I wanted a change from the usual "Leapfrog" so I ordered another 3 bottles and this time it is even better than before! The nose is absolutely superb and the after taste is second to none. For the price of this truly excellent Malt you would have a job to beat it- robust and strong flavours and also at 50%, it really is the perfect dram! Don't you dare discontinue it!!

My husband was delighted with this whiskey, he's a laphroiag fan usually for the smokey peaty taste, but said this was on an equal par.

First time that I have tried this, strong flavour and strong in alcohol. I wouldn't buy it again as it was not to my taste.
