“Having changed my contact details recently, I was looking for a new ID tag for my dog and thought I would treat him at the same time to a new collar.
Having stumbled across Doggie Solutions in my web search, I placed an order for a collar and tag.
Sadly, when the items arrived, they were not compatible i.e. the tag was much too big to fit onto the collar. Also, the tag was quite badly finished and had sharp edges that, in my opinion, would have cut into the collar (which wasn't of great quality either)
I do take some of the blame for the fact that my slide-on ID tag and collar do not work together. It seems that I was wrong in assuming that they would.
When I ordered my previous tag and collar (from a different supplier) it was a simple process and the seller naturally shipped a collar and tag that were compatible.
The slide-on tag that I received from Doggie Solutions is flat and not shaped to the curve of the collar, like my previous one. This means that (if it fitted the collar) it would stick out at the sides and undoubtedly get caught on the undergrowth that my working Springer Spaniel loves to rummage through. Also, I am fairly confident that unless I filed the edges smooth, they would soon cut into the fabric of the collar and damage it.
Sadly, when phoning Doggie Solutions, I was treated less than sympathetically and told that as the two items I ordered won't fit together, I would need to re-order one of them. (Either a smaller tag to fit the collar - or a larger collar to fit the tag). No mention of exchanging the collar for one that fits the tag.
Maybe I was being over optimistic, but I had expected that ordering a collar and tag at the same time from the same company, would indicate that they are intended to be used together. The chap on the phone didn't seem to understand this concept and I got no hint of an apology.
As my previous collar and tag had been around my dog's neck permanently for the last 9 years without a single problem and the text was still legible after all the mud and vegetation that it had been dragged through, I decided to do a bit of research and locate the original supplier.
Working on the 'once bitten twice shy principle', I will in future avoid Doggie Solutions and have now ordered another nice new collar, along with a far superior curved tag from Indigo Collar Tags, who I know from past experience supply great quality collars and tags - that fit together and last for at least nine years.”
